Last summer, when Ian was at his absolute worst, we did consider placing him

somewhere else. Life at home was just miserable, and we were desperate. We

didn't. We consulted a crisis intervention organization (check with your

local hospital), and they were able to help us.

Just this afternoon, we took a tour of a local respite house, where Ian will

be going to have dinner next week, and have an overnight. He's so excited,

and so are we all. It really will be respite.

My advice -- hang in there, check your resources, look into everything even

remotely possible.

Best wishes,

CK,

Mom to Ian (2/89),

(9/90),

and Rose (6/94)

Chickeniemom,

What do you need advice for? So your seeing if your child has another dx?

Or is the behavior normal?

>

When I was younger I used to hit kids. I don't know why but I guess because

I didn't know how to stop. I don't remember my parents doing anything

except maybe telling me to stop and they put me in my room. Eventually I

stopped I think when I was 12 or 13. Just do what you normally do to love

him, that's all you can do. Right now my brother is 17, and well he's doing

bad stuff. My parents are the same way- their's nothing they can do to stop

him, and their's nothing they can do to change my brother's behaivior. My

parent's just love him just how they always have.

Sara,

I am interested in the ABC eval you spoke of. Is this something that

school personell should be familiar with? I have asked many times for

what happened right before a certain behavior occurred, but they insist

there was " Nothing " to bring that on. Who would I go to that should have

the skills to do this assessment?

Thanks

Hi

First of all never say never!! I'm not

an OS and I don't know what condition your knee(s)

are in, but at the same time think positive! OS's can

be wrong. So don't give up. Best advice is to try to

get a job which involves a lot less standing (easier

said than done!!!) I believe this will reduce the

inflammation and make you more comfortable...

Second

thing... DO try the glucosamine. As far as I am aware it

does NOT affect blood sugar level. I don't think it

actually contains sugar or glucose in a form which affects

blood sugar level. A friend of mine is a diabetic and

he takes glucosamine without ill-effects. So take

the glucosamine... monitor yourself (just in case)

and you should probably be OK. If you don't want to

take glucosamine then take chondroitin alone. This is

supposed to be as effective as glucosamine, although the

combination of the two is thought to work synergistically.

But as far as I am aware you should be OK with the

glucosamine. See this link

too:

<a href=http://www.drtheo.com

Margaret,

If you are interested in the alternative practice of Essential Oils, I have

used them on my husband for the past year. He was in need of hip

replacement, degenerative disease everywhere, they have been most effective

for my family. Let me know, many blessings,

Hello Jill... all. He did go to our Chiropractor yesterday and they did

traction and gave him an alignment. He felt better for about 2 hours, then

it got bad again. I am worried because it is getting worse.

To tell you all where I've been. I have made the decision to quit my full

time job and stay home to educate and be a mommy to my babies (ages 2 and

4). My last day is July 31 so pray for me in this transition. I have been

working like crazy so I can save money so things have been hectic.

Personally, I would go to a doctor or chiropractor. One area that allopaths

are good at is emergency medicine and orthopedics (mechanical stuff). If it

is broken, or the muscle is damaged or whatever, he would be told to do

different things. If it heals improperly, he might have long term problems

that could have been avoided. You can always just use the doctor or

chiropractor for diagnostic purposes only, and take or leave their advice.

The problem here is we are diagnosing what is wrong, and we're doing it over

the Internet. We are not trained in diagnosis, yet we are doing it long

distance . I broke my leg when I was a kid and until they x-rayed it, they

thought it was something minor. It didn't swell or anything. In my case,

it hurt like heck to walk on, but that didn't phase them. I realize that

your husband's leg does not hurt to walk on, so that may not be it, but I

believe you need a diagnosis before you can know what to do. Find someone

you can trust, if that is possible. Sandy

Well, Margaret, that was silly. LOL! :) Seems to be standard male

behaviour, though. :) Have you considered possibly a radial break? My

friend's dh twisted his arm in such a way that it didn't look or seem

broken at all, but he was in some serious pain! They x-rayed it and

it was right along the length of the bone.

Yeah, you are right. I think I will have him go in. He goes to the

Chiropractor again tonight. I think I am going to ask him and if he says

to go... I will take him right in. I'm sure he's gonna fight me but at

least we'll know. I can't tell if it's just bothering him or if it is

really bad, he sort of masks how he is actually feeling... except for at

night when he is still. The man can't sit for a minute... heaven forbid it

be broke! I really don't think it is broke... I am more worried about it

being a torn muscle or pinched nerve. It's been over a week so it's gotta

be looked at. Thought I'd get your opinions first...my sanity sometimes

(smile). Thank you everyone.

Hi Margaret

If you go to the doctor to get it checked out you then know for sure that

nothing is broken...you never can tell with these kinda things....I sprained

my ankle a while ago and I thought it wasn't broken but the pain and

swelling told me otherwise hubby took me to get it x rayed and found out I

had a broken bone...

And depending on what your doctor advises you don't have to do what he

says..He told me I need antibotics to treat the pain in my ankle (why

doesn't panadol work?) ...I never went back to him and never took the

medication...

Wishing your hubby to better health with his leg...Let me know what

happens..!!

Till next time
