Mainly to lesson the severity and pain he could feel. My husband got the shingles (I have the Stills...sounds like a country song lol)..and my PCP started me on the same meds along with my husband, just in case. My RA said that was the right thing to do. I never got them and my husband was over it in a week. Apparently, the meds do no harm and they could do a lot of good. Guest guest Posted September 7, 2008 Report Share Posted September 7, 2008 I came down with shingles while I was pregnant with baby #2 (second trimester); and I did have full blown chicken pox as a child…my shingles, while pregnant, was surely stressed induced as well. I just made sure to nurture myself, physically and emotionally, and weathered it through…it sucked though, really painful! Now that I’m pregnant with baby #3, I’m trying my best to keep stress at a minimum…I think that’s all I can do. He, too, had a full-blown case of chicken pox when he was little (you don't get shingles unless you've had chicken pox or the vaccine at some point in your life). ALL shingles is " stress-induced " as it occurs when a person's immune system is not up to par for whatever reason, and the dormant herpes zoster becomes active again. Homeopathy helped with my son's case. I've also heard acupuncture is very effective. Shingles isn't contagious, but can transmit chicken pox to others if there is direct contact with the vesicles. Staying away from direct contact with her shingles rash would supposedly prevent someone from " catching " chicken pox from her. Yes, the chicken pox vaccine is a live vaccine, so its recipients can also get shingles later in life. With homeopathy it was gone in about 2 weeks or less. I think Sheri N. has mentioned before that her father's shingles were cured nicely with acupuncture. I can't remamber the gist of it but if the lysine levels are high enough it prevents another amino acid or chemical from allowing the shingles to pop out. So you'd still have the virus but you wouldn't have the pain or symptoms of shingles. You can buy lysine at most chain drug stores last I saw. It may be listed as l-lysine, as far as I know it's all good. My Dinah hasn't had chicken pox yet, I wish we lived near each other so she could get the exposure! My dad had shingles last year and lysine wiped it out. Lysine works on all herpes viruses. Additionally you should avoid arginine rich foods like chocolate, legumes (especially peanuts) and nuts. Guest guest Posted April 21, 2009 Report Share Posted April 21, 2009 debi she put of me on the medicine that is of called valtrex. and i to also thinked of exposing of the grand baby and might have already because was with her all day sunday and that is of when i to began to feel bad again. I to felt it was of the cats because allergic to them. but anyways she was with me all day and then monday waked up with a swollen eye and it felt like someone punched of me and then also felt it so sore that {felt would try to rub of it or scratch it as that is of my need to fix the sensory so will rub it with my sleeve hard to try to rub off the sensory feeling and or forget and feel the stings and try to scrach if off}so instead wore of the sunglasses all day and when ai to get out of my group things I to notices the blistering things under the eye things so around 2:30 I to called the doctor thinking my eye was of infected but she shared now shingles again. but anyways what triggers some to carry this virus?
