Guest guest
Hi So, after feeling, " lovely and warm " on Iodine, I have started a self-medicated Thyroxine trial, to see if further improvements can be made. My TSH was 3.6 in summer - the normal range went up to about 4.5 so my GP said my thyroid was fine, despite my symptoms of fatigue etc. The GP doesn't test T4 levels at all, but my Ferritin and other results were very good (above range, but the Haemochromatosis thing is a different story for a different time (Can of worms... opened...)). Anyway... I am two weeks into taking 25mcg Thyroxine per day, and I'm not really sure about it. I appreciate that it takes a few weeks to equalise in your body as it has a long half life, but if I'm not feeling any benefits now, should I risk increasing the dose in a couple of weeks time? My face is very red and I seem to be getting teenage spots too. I also have mild diarrhoea and intermittent headaches. And an vague feeling of anxiety. Could a TSH of 3.6 be " normal " for me? I know that it isn't what people aim for, but I'm wondering whether to continue with this trial and would appreciate any comments that you can offer.
