I have heard....and only heard, that it is used for horses, and makes there

bones brittle, but does work very well.

My friend took it for a bit, IV style, and it was not long enough to tell if it

worked or not, and another friend took it for other purposes, other than cancer,

and he said it works great, from what I have seen, it takes the " free radicals "

out of your system.

I am not a doctor though, but I would not be afraid to use it, from what I have

read it would do wonders, and also from what I have read, I can not see how it

could do any harm, but a horse fan of mine, said they outlawed it in the horse

track, now with the gov regulations, if something is outlawed, it must be good.

DMSO is generally sold in liquid form in a 99% pure 70% solution, or the

cream which is in a noxema type cream.

The following info comes from Health World at

http://www.health-world.com/dmso1.html. They sell both kinds.

Dimethyl Sulfoxide is a clear liquid known for its ability to permeate

living tissue. It is believed to help stimulate cellular processes. It has

a distinctive and slightly unpleasant odor, but

Dr. Morton , in his book, DMSO: The New

Healing Power, describes how it appears to help block pain,

reduce inflammation, kill bacteria and funguses,

reduce blood clotting, improve circulation, neutralize

free radicals, stimulate the immune system, and hasten

the healing of wounds.

This product is not approved by the FDA, and there have been many warnings

about its use.

You should probably read Morton 's book or another book on DMSO if

you aren't familiar with this product. Check your local library or

bookstore.

For more info on DMSO, see http://www.dmso.org/ or search on DMSO.

People use it for cuts, bruises, arthritis, bug bites, aches and pains,

inflammations, and some even feel it cures cancer and even some go as far as

to say it helps down syndrome and mental disabilities ().

But, as with any product, it has pluses and minuses. You need to be careful

when you use this product. Do not, without supervision, add it to other

products (it increases the permeability/rate of absorption of the skin, so

if you add it with alcohol, it's not a good idea). Do not use it around the

eyes without supervision. Use it externally. Do not drink it without

supervision (people have died from doing this). Limit use daily. Don't put

it on a body part and then cover it - it needs to air dry.

These warnings should be checked out.

Be sure you get pure diluted DMSO. Do not use low quality products.

I use it frequently for various purposes and have never experienced any

bad effects. If it irritates the skin, it can be mixed with distillled water.

I also use it for sinus problems and dilute it to 30% strength.

I have heard that Magnet Therapy is good for lower back pain. I myself

don't have any experience with it, but 1000's of people swear by it. Look

on the internet for companies that sell inexpensive magnets to wear around

the waist or on the back pain. This seems to be one area where people are

doing serious clinic trials and double blind testing.

Cleanse your bowel, your kidney, your teeth and your liver, and you will

remove the cause of the lower back pain.

Cristals in the kidney are causing it.

Prostatitis is also there.

In addition, there is good info on DataDepot's site, where the cures for cancer

discussion forum is posted. If you go to their cancer page and do a search

on DMSO, or any other type of therapy, you are bound to get some good info.

If you haven't done so already, you should read the info on the site. It

does contain some valuable information.

For all who will look for the best from both worlds, regular as well as

alternative her is some additional information about DSMO.

I don't know how to translate this in english but here are three studies,

randomised where DSMO with stomach cancer and coloncancer (gastric?) gave a

significant positive effect

112) Salim AS ; Chemotherapy 38 : 135-44 ; 1992 ; DMSO, increases the

positive effect when given with chemo and radiation and increases the 5

years survivingrate with stomachcancerpatients. (in Ducth: DMSO, eveneens

een natuurstof , verbetert als adjuvant in gerandomiseerd onderzoek de

5-jaars-overleving bij maagkankerpatienten.)

113) Salim AS ;Chemotherapy 38 : 127-34 ; 1992 : DMSO, increases the

positive effect as adjuvant in a randomised study and increases the 5-years

surviving rate of curative operated gastric/coloncancerpatients. (In Dutch:

DMSO, eveneens een natuurstof, verbetert als adjuvant in gerandomiseerd

onderzoek de 5-jaars-overleving bij in principe curatief geopereerde

darmkankerpatienten)

..

114) Salim AS ; Tumour Biol 14 : 9-17 ; 1993 ; DSMO prolongs life for

terminal and incurable gastric/coloncancerpatients in a randomised study.

(In Dutch: DMSO, eveneens een natuurstof, verlengt bij opgegeven

darmkankerpatienten blijkens gerandomiseerd onderzoek het leven).

For further information also for DSMO with ovariancancer look at this

website in Australia/New Zealand: http://www.cancer-centre.auckland.ac.nz/

Medicine was formed on January 1st 1998, as a joint venture between the

DMSO

Hi,

An interesting chemical is DMSO, made from the sap of Pine trees.

This drug is widely available and very low in toxicity. Apart from its

anti-cancer properties it is used to enhance the effects of other drugs.

It does this by modifying cell permeability. If you pour some ink on you

skin you can wash it off, but if you mix DMSO with the ink and pour it on

the skin you may get a permanent tattoo. So DMSO can carry things into

tissues.

I have a special interest in the ability of DMSO to carry cancer killing

oxygen products, like H2O2, into tissues.

For research purposes only I would like to suggest the possibility of

the Peroxide (H2O2) and DMSO bath. Given that H202 kills cancer cells and

given

that DMSO could carry H2O2 into tissues and given that the skin is the

biggest

organ, the question arises as to the effect of a hot water bath containing

H2O2 and DMSO. Given cancers susceptability to oxygen this might become a

way to fight cancer. It was used successfully by several people I know,

they say it

made them feel great and seemed to have no negative side effects. They used

250ml of

35% food grade H2O2 in a shallow hot water bath, with 50ml of 99% grade DMSO

in the

bath as well. (H2O2 burns the eyes on contact and the 35% concentrate causes

burns

before dilution - use caution with the concentrate).

MEDLINE Title: Stimulation of differentiation in human melanoma cells by

dimethyl sulphoxide (DMSO).

Author Siracký J; Blasko M; Borovanský J Address Source Neoplasma, 1985,

32:6, 685-8 Abstract

Stimulation of differentiation in human amelanotic melanoma cell line by

0.5, 1, 1.5 and 2% DMSO expressed in increased melanization was linked to

significant decrease in proliferation rate of these cells. After removing

DMSO the

0.5 and 1% samples became within 14 days again amelanotic with the same

growth

capacity as untreated controls. The 1.5 and 2% samples did not recover

after DMSO removing and the inhibition of proliferation was irreversible.

Effect of DMSO and DFMO on rat prostate tumor growth.

Carvalho L, Foulkes K, Mickey DD

Department of Surgery, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill

27599-7235.

An anaplastic, metastatic subline of the Dunning rat tumor was exposed to

non-cytodestructive doses of the cellular differentiation agents

dimethylsulfoxide and difluoromethylornithine. Results showed significantly

slower

solid tumor growth after.... oral treatment of host animals for 20 days with

either

agent before injection of untreated tumor cells, and after oral treatment of

host

animals with either agent initiated on the day of untreated tumor cell

injection.

Treatment of animals with established tumors with either agent also had an

inhibitory effect on tumor growth, and the effect was related to the

length of treatment. Thus, exposure of these highly malignant rat prostate

carcinoma cells to non-cytotoxic doses of either agent induced slower

tumor growth rates. Since a slowing of cell cycle transit times is an early

indicator of cellular differentiation, these results could reflect an

increase in

the capacity of the malignant cells to differentiate (to become non

cancerous

cells).

Title

Dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) causes a reversible inhibition

of telomerase activity in a Burkitt lymphoma cell line.

Author

Sharma S; E; Soda H; Izbicka E; son K;

Lawrence R; Von Hoff DD

Source

Leuk Res, 1998 Aug, 22:8, 663-70

INTRODUCTION: Telomerase is an enzyme that is required for maintenance of

telomeres. This enzyme has been shown to be present in germline tissues

and majority of tumors and tumor cell lines. The regulation of telomerase

is an area of active investigation in different models because,

potentially, inhibition of this enzyme could be important in cancer

therapy. To study the regulation of this enzyme in lymphoma cell lines, we

used DMSO to produce a Reversible G0/G1 arrest in Raji cell line, as shown

earlier [sawai M, Takase K, Teraoka H, Tsukada K. Reversible G1 arrest in

the cell cycle of human lymphoid cell lines by dimethyl sulphoxide. Exp

Cell Res 1990;187:4-10].

RESULTS: In this model, DMSO reversibly inhibited

telomerase activity that could be restored after release from the

blockage. The inhibition of telomerase seems to parallel cellular

proliferation and it appears that telomerase is regulated upon entry into

the cell cycle.

CONCLUSION:

Our observations demonstrate a novel effect of DMSO on cellular mechanisms

in Raji cell line (Lymphoma Cells).

To the group:

I have not read anything by Dr.Morton, on DMSO, but I have been in contact

with Stanley W., M.D. who is Gerlinger Professor, Department of

Surgery at the Oregon Health Science University. He may be contacted through

the following - http://www.\dmso.org.

DMSO as a therapeutic principle, was first intorduced to the scientific

commnity in 1963 by a research team headed by Stanley W.., M.D. at the

University of Oregon Medical School. In one of his articles he says that

over the past thrity years, more than 11,000 articles on the biologic

implications of DMSO have appeared in the scientific literature.

I contracted Dr. a few years ago, and I have received numerous papers

by Dr. and others, about the effectiveness of DMSO. In some of these

articles I have learned that DMSO is a respected, approved pharmaceutical

agent in over 100 countries. In 1978, it was approved by FDA for the therapy

of interstitial cystitis, a painful disabling urinary bladder inflamation.

Additionally, in 1970, the FDA approved DMSO for the treatment of

musculoskeletal disorders in dogs and horses. It became prescriptive for

humans in the USSR in 1971.

Published articles on DMSO, says Dr., have shown benefit in the

following entities:

Endotoxic shock, discogenic disorders, carrier for chemotherapeutic agents,

in combination for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, ulcerative

colitis, tinnitus, chronic pancreatitis, Down's Syndrone, Carpal Tunnel

Syndrone. These are, he says, a sample of the many diseases that have

responded to DMSO. To get this information from the authority on the

subject, or as they say " from the horses mouth, I would suggest that you

contact Dr. at the above web site. He operates a clinic in which he

uses DMSO therapy.

Dr. Hans A.Nieper said that DMSO seems to have an effect upon

re-differentiation, and gene repair. This statement comes from his writings

on cancer therapy.

If you were a doctor with seven or more years behind you and some nuts came

along with products such as iodine, hydrogen peroxide, Colloidal Silver,

DMSO from the pulp industry, and a bunch of herbs without side effects, if

you were just a teeny bit crooked, what would you do?

My recall on DMSO is not 100%, after dealing with 8 brain tumors it's

no wonder LOL. Anyway, when Tahitian Noni was first hitting the

market place in the mid 1990's a researcher (sorry can't recall his

name) made the correlation between DMSO and Bromelain. Bromelain

normally found in pineapples is more abundant in Noni. It was found

that the reason DMSO initially worked was it worked in conjunction

with the bromelain stores in the body. Once these were depleted the

wonder of DMSO didn't seem to work anymore and no one knew why so

DMSO got a bad wrap. One of the reasons this researcher was was

impressed with the Noni was the lack of harvesting at the time left

the soil rich in it's natural mineral content whereas the pineapple

fields of Hawaii didn't have that same benefit due to repeated

harvesting. I am not trying to push Noni and only mention it as it

was the base of the researcher work. I don't know if a bromelain

supplement would offer the same benefit to DMSO users looking to get

the most benefit from it or not. I had just found the research on it

very interesting at the time and remembered it.

An interesting note on the lack of harvesting in Tahiti at the time

for the Noni was, pigs loved the fruit anf helped fertilize the soil

LOL. Also interesting was these pigs had no parasites as a direct

result of consuming the noni fruit. I often wondered if the pigs

attraction had any bearing to the taste of the fruit before flavoring

had been added to make it palitable to humans.

I have some 94% pure DMSO gel for external application and find it a

bit strong. I worked around this by applying a thin layer of aloe

vera gel then a thin layer of the DMSO and I do use a bromelain

supplement with it after developing an allergy to fresh pineapple

juice. I spent 2 months consuming 32oz bottles of Noni a week and

that became prohibatively expensive. All I can suggest is looking

into the correlation between bromelain and DMSO and finding what

works best for you in it's use.

I have metastasis covering two thorasic vertebra and the DMSO did not

help with the pain whereas alternating ice and heat did. We are all

different and I think some of the basics of detoxifying, organic

foods, fresh air, exercise, sunshine, prayer and doing kindnesses to

others are essential to keeping the immune system strong. Whatever

else we can add that works for us is an added benefit.

Eileen

Living with cancer is a trip! Through this experience I have been

blessed by the many beautiful and endearing friends I have made along

the way. To then I am eternally greatful for their love comes to me

through the grace of God.
