I know that soy milk or any unfermented soy can cause this. If you haven't fed your child soy milk, a lot of shelved foods do contain hidden sources of soy. I went to earthclinic.com and found this that someone stated. I agree whole heartedly.

THEORY AND DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS

08/20/2008: Linsa from Columbus, Ohio writes: "I believe the cause for early puberty, especially in the USA is because of the excess in soy, growth hormones in dairy and not enough fresh foods and too much fast food resulting in overweight children. It is a fact that over weight children with hit puberty sooner than normal weight children. The fat makes your hormones go crazy having to over compensate for extra fat. With all the soy hidden in the ingredients people don't even realize they are consuming it. Soy contains phytoestrogens which can mimic your own estrogen and creates an over growth of estrogen resulting in girl as early puberty and boys certain girlish features and penis abnormalities. Conventional dairy contains artificial growth hormones that accumulate in humans and as the name says cause growth. This is also causing infertility in many people today. Start your children out on an organic diet if you can, if not at least get

dairy and meat organic or raised without hormones. Cut out fast food and increase fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains and lots of fiber."

EC: Yes, and don't forget about the growth hormones that they feed to cattle and chickens to plump them up! Growth hormones are reported to improve weight gain in cattle by 5 to 20%.

I have been dosing my 6, now seven year old with iodoral - for two years now.Now she is on one iodoral per day.I think she is detoxed because I have weened her off 1/4 Naturethroid, although I have not been able to afford a new/2nd bromide test.(But she no longer complains of her eyes bothering her.)(I had done a hormone panel two years ago that said she was Hypo.)Well she just started developing a breast bud, a sore, when you touch it,bump under one of her nipples. The acupuncturist said let's wait a week to see if it goes away.Well it hasn't.So I took her to a western doctor who said it is precosious puberty!I was shocked, and am afraid I have thrown off her hormones with the iodine. Is there a way to slow down puberty? She is only 7 and a half! Also about a year ago I did an organic acid test for environmental toxins on her which said she was full of plastics, heavy metals

& pollution from the air, paint on walls/off gassing & water.Since then I now buy reverse osmosis filtered water, but I have not really been detoxing all of this other junk so as to not overwhelm her liver. But I think I will now because I know plastics make the body think it has excess estrogen.Any other ideas? My mom said there is something to give her to slow down her puberty, but I do not want to use drugs or hormones if I don't have to. Thank you - Ali

As a Mom I would not be worried about iodine and it having a negative effect on my daughter. If you have given her soy formula or any form of soy in her life she may have a higher than normal estrogen issue. Since you know she is high in plastic toxins that is another issue that needs to be dealt with too since we know that plastics can be estrogenic. Cleansing the liver is key in lowering bad estrogens. Detoxing the body as well. When my mom had high "bad" estrogens she used Ca-D-Glucorate and DIM to clear it. I am not sure what dosing for children would be but you can look into these items as it may relate to children.

We hardly ever eat or drink soy.But she does eat a lot of cheese and dairy yogurt, which is high in fat. All organic. Could that be a cause? We never eat fast food.We have eaten all organic since before she was born. With some restaurant food.AliOn Sep 11, 2011, at 4:28 PM, Kathy Turetzky wrote:

That shouldn't be an issue but milk may be an issue. I know that BC women are told to avoid it. I would concentrate on the liver and detoxing if it were my child. You may want to try another OATS test with environmental toxins to see where you stand.

I googled DIM.It said :DIM is an indole phytochemical that is a natural metabolite of compounds found in cruciferous vegetables such as broccoli, Brussels sprouts and cabbage. In animal and in-vitro studies, DIM has been shown to lead to the preferential formation of estrogen metabolites that are correlated with healthy breast, endometrial, and cervical tissues. This unique property sets DIM apart from other plant nutrients. Source Naturals DIM is combined with phospholipids, vitamin E and bioperine for enhanced absorption.(I understand the Glucorate gets the stuff out of the body, but I don't understand what DIM does.)And re. Ca - D - Glucorate it said:On Sep 11, 2011, at 8:00 PM, ladybugsandbees wrote:CALCIUM D-GLUCARATED-glucarate is a botanical extract found in grapefruit, apples, oranges, broccoli and brussels sprouts. Scientists are discovering that it appears to protect against cancer and other diseases via a different mechanism than antioxidants such as vitamin C, carotenoids, and folic acid. These vitamin antioxidants work by neutralizing toxic free radical damage in the body. There are however, other mechanisms by which the human body can detoxify itself. Glucuronidation is a detoxification process that occurs when toxins or carcinogens are combined with water-soluble substances, thus making them more easily removed from the body. D-glucarate has been shown to support this vital process by inhibiting an enzyme called beta-glucuronidase. When levels of this enzyme become elevated, it reverses the glucuronidation process and releases the toxins back into the bloodstream. The results of various animal studies on D-glucarate indicate that this plant extract may be effective in inhibiting cancer during the initiation, promotion and progression phases. The studies have demonstrated that D-glucarate suppressed beta-glucuronidase activity in the blood, liver, intestines, lungs, skin, and bladder. In studies on breast cancer in rats treated with D-glucarate, tumor growth and development were significantly reduced or inhibited. D-glucarate has also been shown to inhibit the growth of transplanted rat prostate tumor and reduce the levels of a tumor marker for prostate cancer. Calcium D Glucarate also lowers serum estrogen levels thus reducing the risk of estrogen related cancers. CA D-GLUCARATE reduces serum estrogen by inhibiting a bacterial enzyme in the gut which can cause excess liver-excreted estrogen to be reabsorbed.Human studies are just now beginning to determine if the results seen in animals will also be found in people. Since D-glucarate has no known side effects when ingested in moderate doses, and is a component of fruits and vegetables that have demonstrated powerful cancer preventative benefits, it would appear appropriate to add this plant constituent as part of an overall program designed to lower the risk of the following cancers:- General Cancers- Breast cancer- Bladder cancer- Lung cancer- Skin cancer- Colon cancer- Prostate cancer- Liver cancer- Basal Cell Cancer- Squamous Cell CancerUsesGlucaric acid is a chemical made by the body and also consumed in foods. For dietary supplementation, it is combined with calcium to form calcium d-glucarate.Because it is thought to hasten the elimination of potentially harmful substances from the body, glucaric acid has been promoted for preventing cancer. Calcium d-glucarate is known to decrease the amounts of an enzyme that is believed to be associated with certain cancers – particularly cancers of the breast, colon, and prostate. Additionally, glucaric acid interferes with the reabsorption of estrogen from the gastrointestinal tract. As a result, more estrogen is eliminated and less stays in the blood. High estrogen levels have also been associated with the development and growth of breast, colon, and prostate cancers. While studies conducted in laboratory animals seem to confirm these theories, few studies have been conducted in humans. Furthermore, the doses of glucaric acid given to laboratory animals were quite large; equivalent human doses may be impractical. More research is needed before glucaric acid can be recommended for the prevention or treatment of cancer.

BPA plastic is estrogenic, & far more likely to be causing hormone imbalance than iodine, as nearly as I can tell, so try not to freak out. (hard, I know, when it comes to our kids.)The sad fact is that MANY young American girls ( & boys) are going through precocious puberty, & very few of them are taking iodine, I'd guess. If she shares a problem with lots of people, but not iodine, that is kind of a clue that the problem has another cause. As to whether to seek hormone therapy, that would scare the bejeebers out of me, too, & I don't know what I would do in your place. Sorry I can't be more help.AnneOn Sep 11, 2011, at 4:20 PM, A. wrote:

If it were my daughter, I would suggest a very

healthy diet (as close to nature as possible, no fast foods, no prepackaged

foods, no sugar especially fructose [corn syrup], may have organic meat that is

are not grain-fed) as well as a liver

cleanse/support formula as well as a good organic multi-vitamin/mineral complex. This will eventually help to cleanse the

liver. No soy, animal milk or

cheese and nothing that is packaged in plastics. Don’t eat anything that has been

heated in plastic or wrap foods in plastic – in fact, it would be best to

not have anything that is in plastic.

Check shampoo and

personal care products as many of these contain chemicals that contain xeno-estrogens.

Eliminate fluoride (toothpaste & water); chlorine, etc. Has she been vaccinated? One site says the following: Vaccinations are high on estrogen antigens, monosodium

glutamate, mercury, and aluminum which destroys the biological clock in the

hypothalamus region and the pineal gland. Since you already know

that she is high in heavy metals which can cause early maturity, doing a heavy

metal cleanse is warranted. Chlorella

and a good zeolite product would be good choices. Heavy Metal Detox (HMD) is also an

effective product.

I would also make sure that her circadian rhythm is not being affected by

having computer lights, LEDs or night lights on in her bedroom at night. She should have a consistent bedtime and

sleep in a dark room. Turn down

lights at least 30 minutes before bedtime.

We are constantly surrounded by artificial light and personally I

believe this is a very real culprit in children’s and adult’s

hormone imbalance. And in some neighborhoods

there are street lights outside children’s bedrooms that keep their room

lit up all night.

Good article by Sherrill Sellman with some good

guidelines to reduce exposure : http://www.oasisadvancedwellness.com/learning/precocious-puberty.html

Weed suggests Vitex (chastetree) in tincture form as it helps to reset

the pituitary gland and pineal glands and helps with too much estrogen.

About

Phytoestrogens: Actually phytoestrogens are not strongly estrogen stimulating. Phytoestrogens are not the same as

estrogen. They do not act in the same manner as our body’s own

estrogens or like estrogen replacement drugs (ERT). Phytoestrogens are part of

the phytohormone class which means they structurally resemble the body’s

own estrogen. Their chemical structure is such that it allows them to weakly

bind to an estrogen receptor, potentially blocking excess estrogen, or, when

estrogen is low, quieting the system’s need for estrogen. However, they

are not estrogen. What is most important to understand is that the

phytoestrogens used and recommended today in botanical and nutritional medicine

do not increase endogenous estrogen production in the body. And there are no

studies confirming that phytoestrogens increase the risk for cancer. In fact,

new research suggests that phytoestrogens commonly used in nutritional and

botanical medicine may protect from breast and other cancers.

Make sure she stays away from soy. It's in everything. Soy lecithin is in bread

and chocolate etc. Read every label. Did she have soy formula?

As for plastics, it is advised not to store food in plastic containers especially warm food. Also, not to cook in a microwave with a plastic container. Bottled water in plastic containers is not good either. It is also advised not to drink water in a plastic container after it has been sitting in a warm car.

I don't use a microwave.

I use glass containers to store my food in the fridgerator.

I buy a stainless steel container for water for my son's school instead of sending him with the plastic water bottles. Most sports stores carry a better type of container for storing water.

I don't buy the chemical and antibiotic laden milk from a store. I am part of a cow share where I purchase raw milk. See www.rawmilk.com for very good information on that.

I also try to buy mostly non-grain fed beef from a local farmer. If reading about beef, cows are not meant to be fed grain and doing so creates the wrong kind of saturated fat. Cows fed from a pasture have the right kind of fat and the beef is very healthy.

" Soy Lecithin " is a misnomer. Lecithin derived from soy would be a more accurate

term. All of the 'bad' things that you want to avoid soy in order to avoid, are

NOT in the Lecithin. And Lecithin is GOOD for you.

Its like if they took milk, and removed all of the water, thru

distillation/evaporation.Your allergic to milk. But, you could drink the water,

no problem.

This is a common misconception, and its regrettable as Lecithin is about 80%

Phosphatidyle Choline, and is excellent for the liver, and cell walls etc. To

take the refining process the other 20%, and make 'pure' PC, raises the price

from around $8 a bottle, to about $80 a bottle.Economically not feasable, and as

I said earlier, unecessary.Jim

I disagree. Soy Lecithin is a waste product. It is not good for health. Lecithin can be obtained from eggs - I would only consume free range organic eggs so you get a good source of protein.

Here is a good article on what Soy Lecithin is. http://preventdisease.com/news/09/073009_soy_lecithin.shtml

Early puberty has nothing to do with iodine, it's the toxicity you listed that

is

responsible. Young girls were going into early puberty in Puerto Rico because

they

eat a lot of chicken that was full of added hormones. It's in the clinical

record.

She needs the iodine for short and long term health. Also, why did you think it

was

a good idea to take her off the thryoid replacement hormone if she is

hypothyroid?

The idea that thyroid replacement is " bad " is not a healthy idea. She needs

natural

dessicated thyroid, like NatureThroid. Not Synthroid.

I lived with hypothyroid for more than 10 years before getting treatment. I

wouldn't

wish that on anybody.

THEORY AND DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS

08/20/2008: Linsa from Columbus, Ohio writes: " I believe the cause for early puberty, especially in the USA is because of the excess in soy, growth hormones in dairy and not enough fresh foods and too much fast food resulting in overweight children.

Cut out fast food and increase fresh fruits and veggies, whole grains and lots of fiber. "

EC: Yes, and don't forget about the growth hormones that they feed to cattle and chickens to plump them up! Growth hormones are reported to improve weight gain in cattle by 5 to 20%.

Dr. L.,Thank you.We do very little packaged & fast food.I don't own a microwave & never have, so never heat in plastic.I use plastics for cold items though, for her lunch. But we get all laurel/sulfate free, cosmetic products, shampoos & have for twenty years. We drink reverse osmosis filtered water, beginning last year so that takes out the fluoride, and none in the toothpaste. She has not been vaccinated for anything. We have no night lights in the bedroom and nothing plugged in near the head.I have mostly done all the right stuff, I feel. That is why I was so surprised. But the one thing was that during the Fukushima accident I upped her iodineto two pills/25 mg. iodoral five days a week for two months, and since we haveliver clogging issues, and this happened after that, that is why I thoughtit was the iodine more than anything. My fear is that if her liver is clogged with estrogen and bromide, then ifI begin to ramp up the heavy metal detox supplements, it may makematters worse.I am going to get Metagenix Ultraclear for now, at 5PM,and so say no food after 5PMor just apple juice. Would that be ok?Then after two weeks off iodine & doing some liver cleanse, I will start the iodine, 12.5 mgfive days a week again. Is there a liver test I can order through Canary or ZRT labs, and if so which one to get her liver status? After the detox, that is when I will begin chlorella & zeolite. I have chlorophyll already as wellas bentonite clay.Best,AliOn Sep 11, 2011, at 9:22 PM, Dr Loretta Lanphier wrote:

cleanse/support formula as well as a good organic multi-vitamin/mineral complex. This will eventually help to cleanse the

liver. No soy, animal milk or

heated in plastic or wrap foods in plastic – in fact, it would be best to

not have anything that is in plastic.Check shampoo and

personal care products as many of these contain chemicals that contain xeno-estrogens.

We

That

Since

we know we are genetically prone to a clogged liver

& /or

have this pregnenolone steal happening which a clogged

is a symptom of, then it seems our ability to handle iodine

or

what gets kicked out/the bromide, should be taken differently.

I

also know that I have had an increase in all hormones since taking

iodine,

so it makes sense that my daughter would too.

I

Now she is on one iodoral per day.

I think she is detoxed because I have weened her off 1/4 Naturethroid,

although I have not been able to afford a new/2nd bromide test.

(But she no longer complains of her eyes bothering her.)

(I had done a hormone panel two years ago that said she was Hypo.)

Well she just started developing a breast bud, a sore, when you touch it,

bump under one of her nipples.

The acupuncturist said let's wait a week to see if it goes away.

Well it hasn't.

So I took her to a western doctor who said it is precosious puberty!

I was shocked, and am afraid I have thrown off her hormones with the iodine.

Is there a way to slow down puberty?

She is only 7 and a half!

Also about a year ago I did an organic acid test for environmental toxins on

her which said she was full of plastics, heavy metals & pollution from the

air, paint on walls/off gassing & water.

Since then I now buy reverse osmosis filtered water, but I have not really been

detoxing all of this other junk so as to not overwhelm her liver.

But I think I will now because I know plastics make the body think it has

excess estrogen.

Any other ideas? My mom said there is something to give her to slow down her

puberty, but I do not want to use drugs or hormones if I don't have to. Thank

you - Ali

Make sure she stays away from soy. It's in everything. Soy lecithin is in bread and chocolate etc. Read every label. Did she have soy formula?

For me, I get a swollen left ankle, like gout & it begins to hurt.I went to two alternative practitioners who both said I had a clogged liver. Now when my ankle is swollen, I back off of the iodine & take liver detoxsupplements more. For my child, age seven, she is developing a breast and so folks suggested here that it is do to too much estrogen in the body whichcould cause early puberty. Since the liver is responsible for cleaningout hormones, the conclusion is that we should clean out her liver. But different people get different symptoms.I have also experienced liver pain for one day.AliOn Sep 12, 2011, at 2:34 PM, Sajjad Ansari wrote:

We have eaten all organic since before she was born. With some restaurant food.Ali

I know that soy milk or any unfermented soy can cause this. If you haven't fed your child soy milk, a lot of shelved foods do contain hidden sources of soy. I went to earthclinic.com and found this that someone stated. I agree whole heartedly.

THEORY AND DIETARY RECOMMENDATIONS 08/20/2008: Linsa from Columbus, Ohio writes: "I believe the cause for early puberty, especially in the USA is because of the excess in soy, growth hormones in dairy and not enough fresh foods and too much fast food resulting in overweight children.
