Guest guest
Can you crush them up and take them that way with a good swig of water Sharon? My husband has great difficulty in swallowing any tablets but does fine crushing them and swallowing with liquid straight away. Luv - Sheila I'm not sure if this is ok on this forum or whether it should be on the chat forum but I will post here for now. I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good digestive enzyme with betaine in, I have been taking Nutrigest for a while now which was recommended by Dr. P and it has been very good but I'm finding lately that I have trouble swallowing the tablets and they get stuck in my throat. I don't have any problems with swallowing either oval shaped tablets or capsules but the Nutrigest are thick round tablets and that is the problem so I would like to change to something else. _,___
Guest guest
These products are very good: http://www.mandimart.co.uk/houston-enzymes-1-c.asp if you mail Mandi she may be able to make suggestion as to what is best; i have always found her very helpful and they dispatch very quickly. Mandi used to post on here for a brief while, too are you looking for HCL or betaine? I just take HCL tablets by solgar which work for me. not sure if they have betaine in, probably? Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Many thanks for your reply, I will definately try that with some of the other tablets that are hard to take but I don't think that I can do it with the Nutrigest as it says on the bottle that " each tablet should be swallowed whole and not chewed " it must be because it needs to get in the stomach whole before it starts to work. I will keep looking for an alternative so if anyone has any ideas let me know. Many thanks again, Sharon My husband has great difficulty in swallowing any tablets but does > fine crushing them and swallowing with liquid straight away. Guest guest
Hi Many thanks for your reply, I had a quick look on their website and they seemed to have some good enzyme supplements but I couldn't see any that contained the betaine so I shall give Mandi a call to see if she has any suggestions. > These products are very good: http://www.mandimart.co.uk/houston-enzymes-1-c.asp, if you mail Mandi she may be able to make suggestion as to what is best I shall be honest and say that I didn't realise that betaine isn't the same as HCL, looks like I've got some reading to do! > are you looking for HCL or betaine? Guest guest
Sorry Sharon, I think I was wrong when i said this: > > are you looking for HCL or betaine? I just take HCL tablets by solgar which work for me. not sure if they have betaine in, probably? http://hollandandbarrett.com/vf/healthnotes/hn_live_uk/Supp/Betaine_HCl.htm Betaine hydrochloride is an acidic form of betaine, a vitamin-like substance found in grains and other foods. Betaine hydrochloride is recommended by some doctors as a supplemental source of hydrochloric acid for people who have a deficiency of stomach acid production (hypochlorhydria). == If it were me i'd get an enzyme and a HCL/betaine tablet seperately - i take the Houston enzyme ones and Solgar HCL when i remember. there's loads of different makes, www.revital.co.uk has a good selection. Guest guest
Hi Sharon, I stuggle swallowing big tablets aswell! I have been using this one by Viridian: http://www.healthstore.uk.com/p94399/viridian-high-potency-digestive-aid-90-vegc\ aps.html They are average size veggie caps & I Can swallow them fine. As I get through quite a few of these and they aren't cheap, I have recently bought these by Lifeplan as they are stonger but cheaper: http://www.lifeplan.co.uk/products/Digestive-Enzymes-x-60.htm?prodID=701 These are tablets and a bit bigger than the Viridian ones, but they are oval shaped. I havent opened the pot yet so not sure how easy they will be to swallow. Looks like you could crush or split them if need be? Good luck, x > I'm wondering if anyone can recommend a good digestive enzyme with betaine in..
