Guest guest
Hi Olivia, Don't give up hope. You are on the right tract, taking responsibility for your own health. My response to you is partly off-topic but just a thought. I have the same problem and it turned out to be a magnesium problem. I go to a holistic doc and he claims that magnesium, even in the low normal range, signifies low magnesium. The body continually tries to make blood levels of magnesium (and calcium too) in the normal range many times taking away from where it is needed, which can be the heart. No other doctor mentioned this to me. My blood levels of magnesium have always been in the low, normal range....never below normal. If I drink powdered magnesium in my water every day....bingo... palps go away. Get copies of all your blood work if you do not have them, and look at your magnesium levels. You can do a search on palps and low magnesium. Just a thought. To keep this on-topic. I would say also get Dr. Brownstein's book... " Iodine, why you need it, why you can't live without it " . You can order the iodine saturation test mentioned in the book without a prescription to see how you stand there. I would read the book first though to understand bromide detox etc. which can happen on taking iodine. Like you, I too am hypothyroid (hashimotos) but take compounded porcine thyroid hormone and also I am now up to 50mg of Iodoral. I also have celiac disease (diagnosed 5 years ago), and have had misdiagnosed Lyme disease for 35 years. Believe me getting to the point of half-way feeling decent for a change was through taking responsibility for my own health and doing research, research, research on my own. I am also 71 years old. Hope this all helps and good luck. Any more questions do not hesitate to ask. V > > Thank you so much for excepting me into your group. I will appreciate any help or suggestions. > > I have had afib for a few years, heart palpitations longer, I can't get rid of them no matter what I do. Guest guest
Thank you . I take magnesium and potassium but still have afib. My levels are good according to testing many times. Do you think iodine would help me? Did you take the iodine loading test before starting iodine? How long did it take you to get to 50 mg.? What detox side effects did you have? So glad your doing better. Olivia > > > > Thank you so much for excepting me into your group. Guest guest
I had terrible heart palpitations, until I started the Armour and then I take From Swanson magnesium taurate 1 tablet four times a day- the bottle says two two times a day. GONE! No more! Amazing! Magnesium Taurate is good for the heart and also a type of magnesium that Won't give you stomach issues. I first read about it on through the writings of Eby. Cardiovascular research also makes it, but more costly. Try it! I had horrible heart palls, doc gave me some stupid medicine, Holter monitor etc that cost a fortune. Not until I fired my doc, got bloodwork, Got on Armour and take the magnesium. Problem now solved!! > > > > Thank you so much for excepting me into your group. Guest guest
you will benefit from iodine and should start lugols or Iodoral ASAP.  A-fib will go away when you treat your adrenals (I take HC 5mg 4X a day) and take dessicated thyroid med instead of T3 only.  ou might want to join thyroidless group on . it is really important to ge the right doses. Guest guest
For some reason my response to your post did not appear, so I am reposting. Hi Olivia, I started with Lugol's 5%, switched to Iodoral 12 1/2mg tabs and eventually wound up with Iodoral 50mg. I used to get what I called the pricklies every time I ate shrimp or even took any multi with iodine in it. It would feel like pin pricks everywhere on my skin. I really thought I was allergic to iodine until I read Dr. Brownstein's book and realized what I was going through was probably bromide detox. When I felt too bad I would decrease the dosage for a while then raise again. It took me over a year to reach 50mg with no symptoms and over 2 years to reach an 82% iodine excreted on the iodine loading test Dr. Brownstien recommends. I am still trying for the 90% body sufficiency as recommended. No I did not take the iodine loading test before starting iodine because of the 50mg Iodoral that is required to take for the test. Hopefully iodine could help you, as I think too many people are low in it. I hope the T3 med will clear out your RT3. You are fortunate to have a doctor that understands RT3 as most don't and are completely T3 phobic. LOL How are your adrenals? V > > > > > > Thank you so much for excepting me into your group. Guest guest
Hi If you are new to taking thyroid medicine maybe you need to cut back on the dose and try to build up gradually. What I have been advised to do was to stop the thyroid meds, and start with adrenal support, then to introduce the thyroid armour gradually after a week of adrenal support. I am on nutri adrenal extra which is adrenal gland and B vitamins. I have got rid of the arrhythmia altogether now and it took 2 years to do it. My treatment plan was as above, then to go on co-enzyme, fish oil, magnesium (have you tried the skin spray it is very effective and gets into the blood within a few minutes), vitamin C and a good multi vit and mineral. I also got a ferritin test and took iron to bring my iron up to around the middle of the range. I also got a vitamin D test and try to keep levels up at the top of the range. Just keep researching and trying to normalise all your blood tests. I don't take iodine yet, I dared not as I am afraid it will upset the heart! However I am sure it will help lots of people and will try it eventually. You need to buy some books on adrenal and thyroid issues, as well as other things that you feel might be relevant to you. love janet
Guest guest
Why would you think iodine would "upset the heart" when balancing other minerals brings only benefit?AnneOn Jul 17, 2011, at 8:43 AM, bakeacarrotcake wrote: Hi If you are new to taking thyroid medicine maybe you need to cut back on the dose and try to build up gradually.
