Guest guest
Hi Kathleen, Before you started taking it did you test to see if you needed it? If you look in the files section there is a section on HCL. Kind regards, Tina > > HI ALL > I have been taking HCL 4 times a day with food for about a fortnight now, but yesterday I had very bad indigestion. I have also had a problem with Haemorroids again. Yesterday the indigestion was so bad that I had to lay down a couple of times in the day. This appeared to aid my bladder. > Last night I took CHARCOAL instead of HCL, and had to get up a lot to spend a penny, and was accompanied by a lot of pain in the bladder which was helped by spending a penny. I have taken more charcoal again today and left off the thyroxine, and so far no indigestion problems. > They do say that Charcoal prolongs the life of ones kidneys, so could it be that it enabled me to pass a lot in the night and in turn get rid of indigestion. > I have also been busy renovating some furniture. > Kathleen >
Guest guest
what were the symptoms of your indeigestion? was it acid reflux? Perhaps you don't need HCL? are you taking HCL before or after meals? > > HI ALL > I have been taking HCL 4 times a day with food for about a fortnight now, but yesterday I had very bad indigestion. Guest guest
HI CHRIS I had pain in the middle of the chest and acid reflux, and could not eat much last night. I have not had indigestion today having left off HCL and the thyroxine. I have however had pain in the lower back. Not sure if anyone saw the article I posted about Tension free vaginal tapes for incontinence, but the mesh erodes, and damages the inside and causes a lot of problems. It is major operations to remove this mesh and correct any damage done. I have also ask my GP to obtain a copy of the last ultrasound that was done in C & W, as I have to wonder if what was reported to be a multiple of small fibroids which on my follow up the answer I got was very evasive on how many fibroids, so I have to wonder if they could be small pieces of this mesh, in turn it could be what is causing pain in my back and bladder, and in turn indigestion, and if one cannot drink constipation. I have entered this onto my complaints procedure, and will force an issue into all this now. I have also linked up to the site and joined it (the site where the article came from). When I went to C & W the whole purpose was to see the specialist who did the OP, but I never even saw him, and when I ask about this tape the answer I got was evasive. This tape can cause an abcess and I did wonder about that when I had that fall on the bus when the pain went from my bladder and went from the hips up to the shoulders then every where else, but pain has come back in the bladder now. I was taking HCL while having my meal. Guest guest
Kathleen I did say to you that they can burn your insides - if you are also on steroids - you definitely should not be on HCL as steroids already can cause issues in the stomachdigestive tract. Stop taking and drink plenty regards Mandy
Guest guest
HI MANDY I did ask my GP first as I too wondered if they would be OK to take with Prednisolone, and I even showed them to him. He also told me that he had a decree in science, so he should know better. This in turn shows that he does not know what he is doing with drugs. The last time I saw him was about the dry elbows since I has my salt softener installed, so I needed to know if the salt was doing me harm. He prescribed Aqueous cream, and fortunatley I had some, but the elbows got worse so did my fingers and also in the private area. I only used it for a few days, so I also turned the softener off, and my elbows are no longer dry, and despite doing some painting etc my fingers are in good shape. It looks like the salt softener will have to go. This aqueous cream has Sodium Lauryl sulphate in it and this has an oestrogen effect, and Levothyroxine has its effect reduced by oestrogen. I do have to wonder about this GP though and if he is trying to help or harm. I only had a small amount of indigestion tonight, but I feel confident that the Charcoal will help, as I have had it before. HCL is out though, as it is clear that it is not what I need. Thanks from Kathleen > > Kathleen > if you are also on > steroids - you definitely should not be on HCL as steroids already can cause > issues in the stomachdigestive tract. > > Stop taking and drink plenty > > regards > > Mandy >
Guest guest
Kathleen This is what Biovea have to say about Betaine HCL: Betaine HCL: Natural Stomach Acid For Healthy Digestion http://www.biovea.com/uk/product_detail.aspx?PID=%202571 & TI=082211UK • Digestive Support • Hydrochloric Acid Source • Helps Digest Protein Rich Foods What is Betaine HCL? Betaine hydrochloride is an acidic form of betaine, a vitamin-like substance found in grains and other foods. In the stomach, hydrochloric acid converts pepsinogen to pepsin, an enzyme that breaks down proteins into smaller, more easily absorbed substances. Individuals suffering with stomach and intestinal problems most frequently assume that heartburn, indigestion, gas, and reflux are caused by overproduction of stomach acid. This common misconception has been strongly re-enforced by medical professionals, who routinely prescribe stomach acid blocking medications at the slightest sign of stomach dysfunction, failing to properly diagnose the digestive problem by first monitoring the stomach's acid producing function, using scientific methods and neglecting to provide patients with common sense dietary recommendations. The symptoms of stomach acid (hydrochloric acid, HCL) over-production and under production are virtually identical. It is therefore unwise to jump to conclusions regarding what's occurring in the stomach without actual testing. What does Betaine HCL do? Betaine hydrochloride is recommended as a supplemental source of hydrochloric acid for people who have a deficiency of stomach acid production (hypochlorhydria). This deficiency increases the likelihood and severity of certain bacterial and parasitic intestinal infections. A normal stomach’s level of gastric acid is sufficient to destroy bacteria. In one study, most fasting people who had normal acidity in the stomach had virtually no bacteria in the small intestine. Some bacterial colonization of the stomach occurred in people who had low levels of hydrochloric acid. As people age, hydrochloric secretion may be reduced, which can result in decreased levels of pepsin. Without proper pepsin levels, the body has a difficult time digesting food. Betaine hydrochloride is used as a supplemental source of hydrochloric acid, which can be utilized by the stomach to produce pepsin. The combination of betaine hydrochloride and pepsin provide an excellent stomach tonic. Common Symptoms Of Low Hydrochloric Acid: • Burning in the stomach, especially after eating • Bloating or belching, especially after eating • Fullness or heaviness in the stomach after eating • Nausea after eating or taking supplements • Chronic candida infection • Indigestion • Bad breath • Diarrhea or constipation • Food allergies • Intestinal gas • Itching around the rectum • Weak or cracked fingernails • Dilated blood vessels in the cheeks or nose (in nonalcoholics) • Skin break-outs or acne • Iron deficiency • Chronic intestinal parasites • Undigested food in the stool Top of page Ingredients » Directions » HI CHRIS I had pain in the middle of the chest and acid reflux, and could not eat much last night. Guest guest
HI SHEILA The reason that I thought HCL might help was the fact that it helped digest proteins which I have had problems with so had to become vegetarian. In turn I felt it might help leed onto being able to take the natural Armour thyroid, but it is clearly a failure to take HCL, or could be because I am on Prednisolone. In the past I have taken LIFEPLAN DIGESTIVE ENZYMES which also have betaine in, but does not have pepsin in. The HCL by Biovea does contain milk/dairy, but my feelings were if it helped digest proteins it would not be a problem. also had painful cramp again in my feet in the night with my big toe sticking up, and I had to get up for a walk to get it to go back down.I have put it down to something I might have eaten, and I did have some cows milk, as I had run out of rice milk. I had also put a small ammount of tinned red salmon with my salad and a sprinkle of himalayan salt, so will have to work out which of these three it was. I think the fluid problem is causing constipation and haemorroids and in turn indigestion, but indigestion had got bad on HCL that in turn to even drink caused it to be worse. I think I will stick to having Charcoal occasionally. Although my GP has a decree in science you can beat him anyday Sheila. What test is needed to tell what is going on in ones stomach that causes indigestion. If there is also an ulcer could taking HCL be the wrong thing to take.
