Guest guest
Just wanted to say thanks for all the great information on this site. I am wondering a few things which I am sure is addressed in some back posts (which I continue reading when I have time) but haven't run into any yet. Whenever I google Iodine supplement for thyroid cancer the only thing that comes up is radioactive iodine. Can someone point me to any books or websites that specifically address treatment for thyroid cancer using iodoral. I ordered Dr. Brownstein's books but he only touched on the subject very quickly. Also, I have read some reference about sending you slides (from fine needle biospy) to another lab. With results of a 5% to 15% you have cancer and we want to cut out your thyroid suggestion makes me wonder how many thyroids are removed because people are scared of what the doctor tells them. Can someone tell me exactly how I go about requesting my biospy be sent to another lab. Can anyone recommend a good lab to send them to. I am at a loss of what to do. I have started iodine and am up to 50 mg. Will be moving up to 100 mg this week. Am taking the companion supplements and am not having any problems. Do feel anxious at times, mostly at night. Have also gained some weight since I started taking iodine. Will upping salt intake help with this? I don't have a doctor other than the one recommending surgery. I did check with Dr. Brownstein's office and he is not accepting any new patients. They said to call back in December. He is 8 hours from me but I would be willing to make the drive a few times a year if I needed to. Dr. Fleches (sp) is only about 4 hours from me. I don't know as much about him but see his name associated with iodine loading test. I know something is not working properly inside of me because my thyroid is swelled. I am not hypo and hyper. Most information I am finding is on hypo and hyper thyroids or operations to remove thyroids due to cancer. Just unsure of where to start. Should my number one goal be to find a good doctor to work with. I don't mind doing any kind of research if someone can point me in the right direction. Thanks for taking the time to read. This really is a great group!
Guest guest
Denice; 5-15% 'positive' means 85-95% chance negative. Here is a 'reprint' of an earlier post on this subject.Just my opinion; There are 1500 deaths per year from Thyroid Cancer, in a country with 350 million people.(US) You can google it to verify, but thats pretty close. So, you have a better chance of winning several big jackpot lotteries at the same time, as of having Thyroid Cancer. Do to the need to practice defensive medicine, and everyones associating 'LUMP', 'growth' etc with Cancer, there are a lot of unnecesary thyroidectomies being done.To make it worse, there is no GOOD test for detirmining whether or not a thyroid is cancerous; best way to tell is to take it out, and THEN look for cancer cells. A lot of 'inconclusive' results coming back from such examinations, which is the labs way of saying. " Actually, we couldn't find any evidence of Cancer, but we're not going to word it that way. " " Goiters " , at 1 time, was the name for hypothyroidism. It is very common for the thyroid to swell, as a result of chronic, untreated Hypo. As stated, I would increase your iodine intake, make sure you are taking the 'companion' nutrients and UNREFINED salt.Forget about thermography's, needle biopsies, or other tests looking for something which isn't there.I have talked to several people who had their thyroid removed, only to find out afterwords that it was an unecesary surgery. All regret it, and state that their 'symptoms' of Hypo are worse, since the surgery. So, thats what I would do, if I were in your shoes.Jim > > Just wanted to say thanks for all the great information on this site. Guest guest
, I have read your site and in the process of reading it again. It makes me feel sad that you had to go through all that at such a young age. It sounds like you are doing fine with the treatment you have choosen. When they told you that you had thyroid cancer, were they 100% sure you had it (unlike what they are telling me). If choosing iodine instead of conventional medicine, are there certain bloodtests that can be run that will catch the cancer if it is on the rise. How are people determining the amount of iodine to take on their own? Another thing that worries me is I have no other symptoms associated with my enlarged thyroid. No hypo or hyper. What other glands are associated with the thyroid that should be checked out or supplemented to help heal the thyroid. Jim, thanks for the reply. I have read your post about the odds of dying from thyroid cancer. It is reassuring, however, I have read so many people saying they have discovered cancer after having their thyroid removed. Would the stats be higher if people didn't go the conventional route and have the thyroid removed. Has the removal of many thyroids helped keep the stats so low. All questions to be pondered. Thanks again for the help. Denice > > The only place you will find information about iodine and thyroid cancer is on my website. www.naturalthyroidchoices.com I hope to write a book very soon on the things I learned both on my own and through the care of Dr. Brownstein about thyroid cancer and what things can be used to heal naturally. But I have not found the time to work on it more than just a few hours. Hopefully when we find a new home where I have an office I will be able to devote more time to it. For now my story in the blog link and the website are all that are available. > > Buist, ND > > > Unsure of what to do > > > > Just wanted to say thanks for all the great information on this site.
