Starting again on T3

I've been off all T3 now for 3 days at Dr Ps suggestion due to being on too much

too soon and getting terrible headaches (was on 35mcg).

He suggested I start it back in at a lower dose and go up more gradually but I

don't know how much?

Does 20mcg sound alright or lower?

I don't think I'll be able to get onto higher doses until ferritin's up but need

to be on something.

Any thoughts?

Thanks Nick, think I'll start on 2 x 5mcgs tomorrow.

If I increased too fast last time (every 3 - 5) days and my body's not quite up

to that quick yet what would be a suitable rate of increase this time around

(assuming I get that far)!?

Many thanks

Hannah

20 mcgs T3 should be OK to start with, but take half the tablet

in the morning before breakfast and the other half in the middle of the

afternoon and let us know whether you start to feel better.

Hi Hannah, In order for your iron supplementation to work in raising you ferritin, you may need that T3- ie raise both slowly in tandem. No it's not dangerous to try T3 again as long as you do it slowly- we all need T3 to stay alive. If you start to feel jittery then you can always stop until it settles- T3 is quickly out of the body ,so any unwanted symptoms will settle if you do need to stop. Then try again- you will get there, but with some folk it takes longer than others if they are sensitive- this does tend to pass as T3 levels get higher and nearing normal- but you do need the iron too- try adding vit C. Are you dealing with selenium and zinc too? > thyroid treatment > From: juicy7779@...> Date: Wed, 3 Nov 2010 23:15:23 +0000> Subject: Re: Starting again on T3> > I'm not so sure what to do now. I know there isn't a definitive answer but is it dangerous to try T3 again even at a low dose if my ferritin's still low - would I likely be prolonging my misery?> > Lost> > Hannah> > > > ------------------------------------> > TPA is not medically qualified.
