Guest guest
Hi, My daughter is 2 1/2 years old. She gets 2 1/2 hour sessions a week from the intermediate school district for her apraxia (not autism). I had Maddi see an apraxia specialist-- Kaufmann in West Bloomfield, MI to get an official diagnosis. She said that 2 1/2 hour sessions a week is plenty if you have good sessions. It's more about quality than quantity. fayekayne <fayeandrob@...> wrote: My son is three years old and was recently diagnosed with apraxia. He is also autistic. We have since asked for another IEP so that we can add more speech. He currently receives 2 hours one on one speech from school, but we are hoping to get more. We recently started taking him for private speech with an apraxia specialist. Does anyone know of any good websites or information to help us argue why he should get more one on one speech by a " qualified " speech therapist (trained in apraxia)? We have been looking at the apraxia- kids.com website, but I wasn't sure if there were only good ones to help us come up with some good arguments/support for why he NEEDS more. Thanks for your help. Guest guest
I am a male in my 70s and have had borderline anemia for 20 years. Recently my crits and other readings have become worse. This week I saw my haematologist and as he viewed my blood test results, he mentioned that my readings could indicate CML He said he would try some shots of epoetin and see if the readings became more normal. If after six weeks there was no improvement from the procrit, he would take a bone marrow biopsy. Is this the way CML begins in a 70 year old? Any comments would be welcome. hedhunter
Guest guest
Hi Hedhunter, It's true that CML is generally a disease for older people (even though I got it when I was only 31 but having anemia or a low red count is not the way it presents itself. You would need to have a high white count and/or a high platelet count. Do you know what these counts were? Most of us had a white count well into the hundreds when diagnosed and some had platelets in the millions. I don't see how your doctor could suspect CML solely based on a red count. I could see however, how he may suspect MDS. You can read about MDS (Myelodysplastic Syndrome) here: http://www.cancer.org/docroot/CRI/content/CRI_2_4_1X_What_is_myelodys plastic_syndrome_65.asp?rnav=cri I hope you don't have either diseases but if it does turn out to be CML, at least you know you can come here for support, information and friendship Take care, Tracey > > I am a male in my 70s and have had borderline anemia for 20 years. Guest guest
Hi , I did not have breast cancer, but within a few weeks of getting implants I had many problems with them and after six months I had them removed. Sis > > Hi I am a Breast Cancer survivor (age 35). I was diagnosed with Stage III B Breast Cancer in Mar 06. I was recently cleared to have reconstruction. On my mastectomy side the Surgeon used Stomach Tissue to make the breast. (no problems) However on April 24, 2008 I decided to make the other side match better an implant would be a good idea. Ever since, I have had nothing but severe pain. I have made one emergency room visit, 2 Surgeon visits, and 1 Primary Care visit. My breast throbs all day. My back and neck have started to ache like nothing I have felt before. I don't know what to do. At this point its been 1 month since surgery. I don't think this is normal. Any thoughts??? > > Thanks, > >
