Guest guest
Ellen Garber Bronfeld, mother of two sons, Jordan (22) and Noah (20). Noah has autism with minimal verbal language. I am on the Board of The ARC of Illinois and Anixter Center. I am also on the Executive Board of a newer, non-profit group called Progressive Services Network (PSN) that raises funds to supplement the budget's of cutting edge, best-practice community based supports and services for adults with developmental disabilities. I am also on the Exec. Board of a parent group called Best Futures. Best Futures has 23 families who are working together to provide practical assistance and emotional support to one another, provide social interaction among our children with disabilities and all members of our families, and to promote public awareness of the supports and services needed by individuals with developmental disabilities to be productive members of our community. We also lobby at the state and federal level. We hope to provide a template whereby we can help mentor other Best Futures groups. I was on the Keshet Board for ten years and still write a column on political advocacy in the twice yearly newsletter. I am on committes at Glenkirk. I meet regularly with our local state legislators. My goal is to help build a larger coalition of like-minded individuals and families to work together for change in Illinois.
