Guest guest
Cheryl, I also just returned from holidays and was disappointed to see your note. In case you were not aware, the Jewish High Holiday, Rosh Hashanah, begins at sundown on September 22 and ends at nightfall on September 24. Secular activity is completely prohibited on these important days. I do not think that just because the LLS and Bristol Meyers chose September 22 to hold the Montreal LTN event is a reason for the CML Society to go along with these dates for their meeting. Unfortunately that precludes my attendance and that of any other observant person of the Jewish faith. Send my best regards to everyone who will be there. Guest guest
Zavie, No doubt you read the other message that states we have changed our meeting date. We haven't selected a new date, when we do we will be happy to advise everyone. Perhaps you should talk to Robin Markowitz at the LLS, when I realized she had chosen Rosh Hoshanah as the date for the first ever LTN event in Montreal, she explained that since she nearly completed her masters degree in Jewish studies, she felt qualified to tell me that she didn't see anything wrong with having the event on this date. She explained that in fact doing a " charitable " act on that day was considered a good thing. That was the reason we went along with it in the first place and agreed to hold our meeting around that date. After speaking with Dr. Lipton, who as you know is the VP Medical advisory to the CML Society, we thought it best to change the date. We can't change the date that the LLS chose - not Bristol Myers Squibb nor the CML Society - but the CML Society can change the date of our patient advisory board meeting. When we know the new date, we'll certainly keep you and everyone else informed. It is unfortunate that the date the LLS chose for their event conflicts with an important event of the Jewish calendar. I personally am less enthusiastic about participating in the event than I ever was. Cheers, Cheryl-Anne > > Hello Everyone, > > > > Just back from a lovely vacation on Martha's Vineyard. Guest guest
Hi I am from London, England and don't often post on this site. However I would love to know what kind of masters degree Robin is doing. No way under any auspices is this sort of meeting suitable for Jewish people to attend on Rosh Hashana. No way at all ever....... Actually having said that the English group have a get together on Succot and I will be forced to miss that as well. Happy and Healthy New Year Zavie and others BMS trial since March 06 Very very low PCR and finding the drug difficult to tolerate, now down to 50 mg from 100mg. Apologies if this is sent more than once having trouble!
