Guest guest
< I am very angry about the Spam. I have written to egroups twice and you have to pay them to get it taken off!! If we all protest maybe something can be done. I know a lot of other people on my other groups are angry about it as well. Take care,
Guest guest
Not only that, but I have a small monitor (15 inch) and I often use my Netzero account when I can't access otherwise. By the time I get everyone's ads on my screen, it only leaves space for about 3 lines of e-mail text. I have to KEEP scrolling in order to read. -- Marcelle Karustis mkarustis@... - email (973) 776-3900 x7867 - voicemail/fax ---- Cramer <cramerj@...> wrote: > > Hi everyone, > Is anyone as PO'd as me on the new format at egroups > that puts their SPAM at the top of each message? > I hate it!! Guest guest
It is free this way. No one read bottom ads. Commercial TV has ads...public TV relies on donations. Listserves these days are like that. Ads in your face, or volunteer to cough up $5 a month and the ads disappear. Some listowners do that... but then THEY are usually selling something (with exceptions, of course). as usual, TANSTAFL.....PYMWYMI, and all.... I hate top ads, but spamming the free listservers with complaints (positive suggestions might be good) likely just cuts down on free listservers. " Ad-free " newsgroups contain and generate way more SPAM, IMO..... Joanie (who is much more irritated with the unsolicited mail with really distasteful sexual content I get from newsgroup and ICQ participation) >Hi everyone, >Is anyone as PO'd as me on the new format at egroups >that puts their SPAM at the top of each message? >I hate it!! Guest guest
Bad enough to have spam mail on the top. Guess what is worse? I have not received mail about that yet but my hudsband has. Apparently, has bought egroups. They came down with a policy that they have the right to anything posted on egroups by anyone. In other words, when we share recipes among our group, the recipes automatically beome 's property. That's what my interpretation of their policy is anyway. Does anybody have a different understanding on the issue, or suggestion on how to deal with it? -- May Ip(mayip@...)---------------------------Secretary Teledynamics Communications Inc.-------http://www.teledyn.com Seven Forest Place RR1 Sauble Beach Ontario Canada N0H 2G0 Tel(519)4221150-------------------------------Fax(519)4222723
Guest guest
I disagree. In other media, say for example... television... I see the TV show for a few minutes then I see the commercials. On line, which I am already paying for, I see a banner for my ISP at the top of the screen, then I see a banner for the co. that provides my e-mail address. Then I see a banner for e-groups. Now, where does that leave room for what I paid for??? I want to see my mail!!! Instead, I am getting ads built on top of ads at the expense of what I am paying for. If this keeps up, there will be no room left for my mail soon! -- Marcelle Karustis mkarustis@... - email (973) 776-3900 x7867 - voicemail/fax ---- " Joanie MacPhee " <macphee@...> wrote: > > It is free this way. > No one read bottom ads. > Commercial TV has ads...public TV relies on donations. > Listserves these days are like that. > Ads in your face, > or volunteer to cough up $5 a month and the ads disappear. > Some listowners do that... > but then THEY are usually selling something (with exceptions, of course). > as usual, TANSTAFL.....PYMWYMI, and all.... > I hate top ads, but spamming the free listservers with complaints > (positive suggestions might be good) > likely just cuts down on free listservers. > " Ad-free " newsgroups contain and generate way more SPAM, IMO..... > Joanie > (who is much more irritated with the unsolicited mail with really > distasteful sexual content > I get from newsgroup and ICQ participation) > > > >Hi everyone, > >Is anyone as PO'd as me on the new format at egroups > >that puts their SPAM at the top of each message? > >I hate it!! Guest guest
Maybe we should say " Hello (Yavol!!) " to Big Brother (the book, not the show)!!!! Guest guest
So now if you want to refer someone to message 12,345, they'll have a hard time finding it.---- You can do it but you have to remember this code: /message/10000 Just copy & paste the above url into your post and fill in the post number in place of 1000 - it will link right to the post. (This code appears in the browser window if you open any message - you can modify it by changing the post number at the end.) And, up is down and first is last. Too challenging for a creature of habit like me....
Guest guest
Yeah, what were they thinking? One of the reasons people most like is now gone??? Next they'll be adding threads. Might as well go to the BB format. penny > > New format sux. I gave them my opinion, in nicer > words. > Barb
Guest guest
Barb, where did you send your feedback about the new format? penny > > New format sux. I gave them my opinion, in nicer > words. > Barb
Guest guest
The only upside of this I can see so far is that there's now a seperate button for sending private emails. This should help prevent some of the accidental postings that inevitably occurred under the old format. I normally wouldn't mind the ascending date format, but under the linear format, it just doesn't make sense. penny > > New format sux. Guest guest
I'll answer my own question. The feedback button's on the top of the home page and also at the top/right of the " my groups " page. penny > > Barb, > > where did you send your feedback about the new format? > > penny
Guest guest
This crap hurts my my brain! aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. I just wrote this asking if we could get the old format back for I/I2 - something we can vote on, on the off chance they actually respond. --------------------------------- Many people at our health discussion group have light sensitivity and neuro-cognitive difficulties, and prefer the visual simplicity of the old format. Is there any chance we can get it back, just for our group?

Dear , I doubt that we are going to get the old format back: they have switched from old " frames " like style to something likme PHP or CSS, and EVERYTHING on got moved to this new, er, vehicle. It is not all bad. It now resembles a blog, and the graphics show nicely. However i. what bugggggs me is the up-down, previous message - latest message function. TThat is a mess, and that we do have a right to ask them to fix. k Canada
Guest guest
Youre no doubt right - I think I'll just open an e-mail account to recieve this group, and read it there instead of on the site. > Dear , > I doubt that we are going to get the old format back: they have switched from old > " frames " like style to something likme PHP or CSS, [...]

Guest guest
Thank you. The idea is to create as many boards as we need. I am now toying with the idea of creating a survival supplies group. Why? Because if the worst projections are right--one billion dead--then we need to be ready. Now that is probably very unlikely and most of the dead will be over in Asia and not in the West. Still, we cannot be sure and it is better to be safe. Guest guest
This is frustrating me too! It is taking me so much longer to get through things. I don't think we can go back if we have posted a reply. How hard can it be?! > > Can I just say change is hard? lol. Guest guest
Still trying to figure it out (not surprising). So when you post a reply to a message, a seperate message does not appear? Do you have to check the original message to see if there has been a reply or new replies? Wth? [ ] new format Can I just say change is hard? lol. Is there a way to see which parts of a thread you've already read, or are we supposed to (gack) *remember? Nell

Guest guest
Just thought I'd let you know that I really like the new format. It is easier to read and I like the way it keeps the thread of the e-mails together. Guest guest
I don't think it is as bad as I had originally thought, but it took talking to Anne to get it straight in my head, not being a math/computer person, at all. I first thought replies to posts would not be posted seperately, but posted under the original post. I may or may not keep an original post, but sometimes do reread them if somebody I like to read after posts about it. But this is not true, as undoubtedly the rest of you know, the replies do get posted and the only thing that changes is that which each reply to a post a thread is connected so that you can read all the replies to this thread, maybe, not so bad. Guest guest
Nell, Do you read individual emails? Or on the list? Guest guest
I, personally, think it is an improvement. I love the fact that if you read on the list and scroll down (when looking at a post), you can see the history of the thread, which posts you have read and which you haven't, etc. Am I alone in this? Guest guest
I hate it. Blech. Pam (I hated the last change too.
