Guest guest
Hi. I think the doctor is sooooo wrong about wanting to give your friend another C-section! I had a C-section 5 years ago with my son, and REFUSED to have another one with my little girl. I just had her on May 16th, had only 1 hour of labor, and had a successful VBAC. It was so wonderful!!! I was so worried the whole pregnancy that my uterus would rupture while i was in labor, but i had absolutley no problems. I worried for nothing. I would suggest it to anyone who has had a C-section. Why get another one if you dont have to? Surgery is a lot more risky, and a lot harder to recover from. Shit, i was at the store a few days after i had her! I felt GREAT!! I was cut down there and it hurt like hell the first week, but i would of NEVER had another C-section. I think it is terrible that the doctor wants to do a C-section just because she had them before. (I assume that is the reason) Why doesnt she just tell the doctor she doesnt want one? It is her body and her choice, not the doctors. My doctors gave me that choice and were all for it. Does this doctor have a really good reason why she SHOULD get another C-section? Uterine rupture is only a 1-2% risk, so what is his reason? She should find a different doctor, if possible, that will care about what SHE wants because thats the way it should be, if a doctor truly cares about the patient. Anyway, i found a web address about induction. I tried a few of these things, like nipple stimulation, sex, evening primrose oil (an herb), etc. Nothing worked for me. I luckily was induced 9 days early so my baby wouldnt be too big to push out, like my son was. The web address is http://www.gentlebirth.org/archives/natinduce.html Tell your friend i said good luck and PLEASE try to go VBAC. The experience of a natural birth, after having a C-section and going through hell, makes you realize how awesome and exciting childbirth really is. It is soooooo different than the surgery cause you get to experience pushing your baby out of you and having the baby put on your tummy right after they are born. The way that feels is incredible and i cannot begin to explain how i felt that day. I regret missing that with my son. It truly upsets me terribly that i couldnt bond with my son like i have with my daughter, Zayna. I hope i have been helpful, and good luck. Guest guest
Hi Teri! I am having a dd, due July 25 and had the OB from hell. :0) I just recently switched to a midwife and she was more than happy to " take me this late " . I just explained the situation and had my records transefered. IMO there is no other way to go. My first two were born with midwives and now this one will be too! If she is " high risk " then she will want to find one who works under a Dr but that usually isnt a prob! ~ Re: OT: Labor inducing herbs/homeopath > In a message dated 6/24/00 4:51:00 PM Pacific Daylight Time, snakken@... > writes: > > << And why can't people just say no to their doctors. Guest guest
LOL! I just wanted to tell about my labor when I used RRL during pregnancy. I was in labor for one hr and I didnt push once. My *toned uterus* did it all. The midwife was saying "dont push, quit pushing please" and I was like "I'm not doing anything!" She popped out in like 30 seconds! ~E Re: OT: Labor inducing herbs/homeopath My homebirth midwife is also a homeopath (?) and suggested the same type of thing for raspberry leaf tea. She really harped on it, and had all kinds of anecdotes about her clients who used it, yadda yadda. Well, I didn't drink near half as much as she wanted me too. I mostly put it off until the last month of my pregnancy because I couldn't stand how it tasted. Anyway, even though I had a really long labor, the pushing part was a total piece of cake! I pushed really hard of course, but it wasn't all the work everyone kept telling me it would be. So maybe the tea helped?? I dunno. But I'll drink more next time. Mel Just my two cents on Raspberry Leaf tea...My naturopath recommended it throughout my pregnancy - one cup/day in firsttrimester, 2 cups in second trimester and 3/day in the third. It is supposed to tone your uterus, and I tell you, I think I had thestrongest uterus in the world! I barely had to push with the birth of myson (dec 26/99), the uterus did all the work. After labouring quitecomfortably at home, I decided it was time to go to the hospital when Ibegan to feel nauseous. And I was 9 centimeters already! We were at thehospital about 45 minutes total, the doctor barely made it (ran in, threwher coat and purse on the floor, gloved up) before baby came. This is in contrast to the birth of my daughter 3 yrs ago, before I knew ofraspberry leaf tea. I pushed for almost 3 hrs. I know, it probably wasn'tonly the tea (uterine experience, I was more relaxed this time, etc...) butI think it definitely had something to do with making my contractions veryefficient.I did let my dr. know I was taking it during pregnancy, she had no concernswith it. I don't think miscarriage is a concern, unless maybe there's ahistory of it, then I don't think I'd take any chances.AmyF

Guest guest
Hi Mel - I have tasted some not so great raspberry leaf tea and then there is what I buy :-) I use it for one of my dogs. I buy it from a company called Blessed Herb. They only do organic and wildcrafted. i like them because they do not spray their wherehouse. Lots of places than claim organic do. Basty business. Anyways - they do mail order and here is the info. The catalog is worth getting: Blessed herb 1-800-489-HERBS My homebirth midwife is also a homeopath (?) and suggested the same type of thing for raspberry leaf tea. Guest guest
I too had to change doctors at 8 months pregnant. You have to do what you feel is in your and your babies best interest. Diane Re: OT: Labor inducing herbs/homeopathWhen my younger sister was pregnant her OB told her that if she didn't have the baby by a certain date that he was doing a C-section. So I went in with her to her next appt. and, boy, that Dr. sure didn't like me after that!! Who cares, right? We found a new OB for her when she was 8-1/2 months along and didn't have a problem. That was almost 6 years ago, and now I'd have found her a midwife instead! =) Odrade " Whatever it may bring, I will live by my own policies, I will sleep with a clear conscience, I will sleep in peace " ~ Sinead O'Connor nojabs4us@... wrote: She is getting a second opinion, she's just afraid no one will take her this late. Guest guest
I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, but Nurturing Magazine's online article library has a list of alternative options for natural labor inducement. http://www.nurturing.ca/labor.htm I was 10 days overdue & used alternating doses of Blue & Black Cohosh. Within 12 hours I was in labor. Who knows for sure, but I was *very* grateful not to have to " discuss " inducement with my midwife who was getting a little nervous. __________________________________________________
