Because it also helps effacement. I took Black cohosh when I was PG with

a and had her two weeks early. But, it tastes disgusting...so you have

to put it into something else.

I agree.Get a midwife,though this late in the game I doubt anyone would take

her.I am on the birth trauma list,and I have to tell you it is horrid what

doctors do to women and their babes.I hope I never have to birth in a

hospital,but if I do I will be the biggest you know what in the world they

have ever seen.Even if she does try a VBAC the mentality of the

doctor/hospital will ruin her labor,the interventions will start flowing,and

bam another *necessary c-section* to save mum and babe.

Tell her to look for a midwife or else she might as well give herself over to

that jerk.

I read that early in pregnancy it can cause contractions/MC in women who have

had MC's before.I drank it toward the last 4 weeks of pregnancy.

Blue Cohosh would have been given to me by my mid-wife had I gone later to

induce labor and she would have had me walk to try and get labor going. She

had me walking laps around our yard (2 1/2 acres!!!!). I'll ask my mid-wife

too on Monday.

I agree, just say no, there doesn't seem to be a reason.

I also agree about getting a new doctor, this guy sounds like a real peach and

will probably do a c at the drop of a hat - even if it means making up a

complication.

Been lots of discussion lately regarding this on my list. Many people

believe it is best not to use this tea in the last part of pregnancy

unless you want to induce labor. Something to read up on. I haven't

used it for this purpose before so don't know as much about it as i

would like. I would look in tte Levy's book, " Nature's Children. "

Hi all ,

When I was having my first daughter I went to a doctor that was Csection

happy!

I had two second oppinions they said just induce in two days ,no big deal

,you dont

need a csection! I changed docs two days before I had my baby girl and had

the most wonderful experience .Change can definitely be good sometimes!

after a week late, my doctor told me to have sex with my husband, I think in

four days time I made my husband have sex with 3 of those days.( I never did

tell him, my motives) and 2 days later I went into labor. ( this was my fifth

child, and two of them were induced, and though I had no problem being

induced, I felt there were problems later with those two children, health

wise! Go for it have fun!!

I went to my midwife 2 weeks before my due date. My BP was extremely high

and Jennie (my midwife) was a little worried that I might end up being her

hospital patient. I was so adamant about a homebirth that I told her I would

have the baby over the weekend. I went home and started doing the Black

Cohosh. Since Black Cohosh will not work unless your body is ready for

labor...I didn't worry...and took double the amount the bottle said, twice as

often. The next day, Dh and I had sex and that started labor. I had my

little baby at home...and everything went well! I am against inducing drugs

such as Pitocin (sp.?)...but herbs such as Black Cohosh that work only when

your body is ready I am okay with. Babies come when they want to...not when

we tell them to.

Also, to promote contractions, you can *twist your nipples* (sorry guys).

That releases oxytocin same as if you were breastfeeding or having sex.

I find that strange. All the books I read on good herbs for pregnancy, ones

containing calcium and vit. K., list most of the ingredients on the

pregnancy tea. I've been drinking a cup at least a day throughout most of

my pregnancy and thought I was doing a good thing! If you find any research

to disprove it, please pass it on. I'm actually drinking a cup right now!

Have you ever been induced?

I have and it was a great experience and if I had not I would had to have a

csection!

I carry big babies and they both were born at 38 weeks,just something I

thought I would share,to me a drug is a drug wheter it is a tea or a legal

substance.

And with my second one I was induced but the rest was natural.

I dont see a liitle help being a bad thing as long as there was no csection!

How about just don't go to the hospital until you are in labor and tell all

the nurses that you don't want a c section and don't sign the consent form.

Or go to a different hospital. Unless it becomes very apparent that it is

necessary. I am very wary of some of these natural remedies, I am sure they

are ok, I just would be very careful.

Oh, yes, I was induced...on continual turbo pitocin drip for 10 hours. It

was NOT a pleasant experience, and several people who were there told me they

had never seen contractions like I had. My dr. was in a hurry, I guess, to

get the baby out. The pitocin they had me on gave such severe contractions

that I suffered from severe exhaustion and stopped breathing several times,

causing my heartrate and the babies' to plummet...it was very scary several

times. I plan to NEVER go pitocin again. And, I disagree about synthetic

vs. natural drugs. They are not the same. God gave us herbs, vitamins,

etc. for a reason, and they work naturally with our bodies. Synthetic drugs

My homebirth midwife is also a homeopath (?) and suggested the same type of thing for raspberry leaf tea. She really harped on it, and had all kinds of anecdotes about her clients who used it, yadda yadda. Well, I didn't drink near half as much as she wanted me too. I mostly put it off until the last month of my pregnancy because I couldn't stand how it tasted. Anyway, even though I had a really long labor, the pushing part was a total piece of cake! I pushed really hard of course, but it wasn't all the work everyone kept telling me it would be. So maybe the tea helped?? I dunno. But I'll drink more next time.

Just my two cents on Raspberry Leaf tea...My naturopath recommended it throughout my pregnancy - one cup/day in firsttrimester, 2 cups in second trimester and 3/day in the third.It is supposed to tone your uterus, and I tell you, I think I had thestrongest uterus in the world! I barely had to push with the birth of myson (dec 26/99), the uterus did all the work. After labouring quitecomfortably at home, I decided it was time to go to the hospital when Ibegan to feel nauseous. And I was 9 centimeters already! We were at thehospital about 45 minutes total, the doctor barely made it (ran in, threwher coat and purse on the floor, gloved up) before baby came.This is in contrast to the birth of my daughter 3 yrs ago, before I knew ofraspberry leaf tea. I pushed for almost 3 hrs. I know, it probably wasn'tonly the tea (uterine experience, I was more relaxed this time, etc...) butI think it definitely had something to do with making my contractions veryefficient.I did let my dr. know I was taking it during pregnancy, she had no concernswith it. I don't think miscarriage is a concern, unless maybe there's ahistory of it, then I don't think I'd take any chances.AmyF

When my younger sister was pregnant

her OB told her that if she didn't have the baby by a certain date that

he was doing a C-section. So I went in with her to her next appt.

and, boy, that Dr. sure didn't like me after that!! Who cares, right?

We found a new OB for her when she was 8-1/2 months along and didn't have

a problem. That was almost 6 years ago, and now I'd have found her

a midwife instead! =)

Sorry i am venting it just make mad about everything including what there
