Hi Lynn,

Sorry it took me so long to get back to you about Sprycel side effects. The one

I had was headaches for the first week. They were moderate and easily taken

care of with one Excedrin. As I said, others have had worse -- such as fluid in

the sack around the lungs bu I don't know about others. You could go to Jerry's

site and scroll to the BMS Discussion and find a lot of information.

Dear , I am still at zero FISH, but I lost MR. It is not that I am

Gleevec resistant, it is that I am intolerant due to side effects. I did try

to

get on the BMS trial last year in Boston but I had pneumonia the week I was

supposed to start, and BMS seems to have an effect upon bronchial/pulmonary

function? Once again, last fall I thought about going on it, then again, to my

surprise, I got pneumonia because my husband had bronchitis and gave it to

me. I had xrays taken but they showed nothing (as usual) so they did not put

me

on any antibiotic. In two weeks, it went to full blown pneumonia, and I was

in the hospital AGAIN.

My immune system is awful.

During this time of course I still suffered from Gleevec side effects, bone

pain worsening, bloating, etc. so I would take little holidays from Gleevec

when I just could not bear any more pain. It was such a relief to have those

days off, but unfortunately I compromised my remission. Now I am .33 positive

qPCR wise and rising.

I am on 400mgs. and they wanted to up my dose to 600mgs. I tried it for one

week and it was so excruciating I begged my doctor to push me back down to

400mgs. They agreed, as long as in August we start looking at Sprycel or some

other drug. My biggest fear is that Sprycel will cause broncial problems,

since

I have been prone to them since childhood. I have had pneumonia pretty much

every year all my life! Who knows why I am compromised that way, but it was

so bad when I was in my early twenties I almost died from it.

I hear that some people have bronchitis like effects from BMS drug?

Why do you suppose you have headaches on Sprycel? Did it affect your

eyesight as well?
