Hello all,

I haven't posted in a very long time. My husband who will be 36 on

Tuesday was dx Sept 17 2003 in the chronic phase. Started gleevec

and has tolerated it okay with minimal side effects. He has never

hit zero ,his numbers have been high and low.Last month his bmb

showed that he had moved into the accerated phase. That the gleevec

wasn't work, basically a resistence had been built. Our local doctor

and our cancer center The Hutch thought he would be a good candiate

for the trial being held by Bristol Meyer Squibb the bms drug. He

started the trial is now on his second week of medicine he takes it

twice a day for a total of 170mg. His platlets are pretty low. He

will probally have to have a transfusion.( never has this before) I

just wanted to get any feed back on this trial drug. How it is

working and what side effects it is causing. My husband is a very

proud man other than the cml is healthy. I notice the difference in

his strengh, he is having night sweats and a constant headache. The

doctors with the trial ( UK Markey Center in Lexington Ky ) didn't

seem to worried about this. We just want to explore all of his

options before moving toward a transplant. Thanks in adavnce.

Hi Tammy,

The site that mentioned is excellent for information on BMS.

I can also tell you that I am aware of at least 2 patients here in

Montreal who were in blast phase when they started on the BMS

trial. One was actually brought in to the hopsital in an ambulance -

she was so sick. Both patients have responded very well. In fact

one of the patients recently achieved PCRU!

Just a few words meant to give you and your husband hope that this

drug will work out well for him.

Love, Light, Peace and all good things,

Cheryl-Anne

Hi Tammy,

Sorry about this unfortunate turn of events. Howevere, go to

www.newcmlldrug.com, look at the left side of the home page and go to BMS

Discussion where you can ask any questions you wish. I do know that BMS has

brought people out of the accelerated phase back to the chronic phase though I

don't know the details.

Best wishes,

L
