Guest guest
Has there been any study or just some " Wow! That happened to me too! " stuff on CLL/cancer vs. divorce? My hubby is not dealing with this diagnosis at all and is in the process of finding his own apartment and moving out. Whether he just needs some space to think things out or if this is the beginning of the end of 26 years of marriage, I don't know and I don't want to speculate at this point. I've told him of the caregivers support groups, but he's not interested. I sometimes wonder if he's been unhappy for awhile and is using this as an excuse to bail out. In any case, I guess I'm in this battle alone except for you guys and my immediate family, but they are all in other states. Considering everything, I'm doing amazingly well. I have a great job, pays well, has good health insurance and I can survive on my own. It's not like I was suddenly shoved into the job market at my age. Maybe I'm in the " shock " stage, and it just hasn't hit yet. Don't know. Oh well. my WBC is still in the toilet, went down from 2.3 to 1.6 this week. I'm glad, and I think my Oncologist is glad, that I'm getting a 2nd opinion at MD at the end of this month. The the news that gave was terrific news! There is a presentation given by Dr. Levy of Stanford University Medical Center, on the research channel's website. It goes into the background of the development of monoclonal antibodies. It's about an hour long, so be prepared to sit and watch and listen at your computer. Here's the link: http://www.researchchannel.org/program/displayevent.asp?rid=2449 It's a start at understanding what this announcement does for us. Also, if you have the research channel on your TV, they occasionally air this presentation a couple of times during the week. Check their website for schedules. Guest guest
Becky, It sounds like you are going through some rough stuff now. My husband had an affair and moved out six months after my diagnosis too ( although he claims that it was because my son moved back home not the SLL but I believe that it was a combination of stuff) Anyway he has been doing a lot of therapy and has since moved back in. I hope he also has a good therapist to help him think things out. Good luck to you and keep that positive attitude.
