That is interesting Susie. Yes, 400mg is the usual dose in the US for early

chronic....but the MD can Rx any dose. Dr. Druker also likes the 600mg

dose, but he does use 400mg for the early chronic (to minimize side

effects) and if the person does not respond, he can always increase it.

Many people have done very well with 400mg....gotten to CCR and even

PCRU....so I think his thinking is why use more than you need????

Hi Susie,

I was started on the trial of 800mg...lots of side effects,probably should

have gone off Gleevec for a bit, but i was to afraid that if i went off i

wouldn't be able to get back on. I am not suggesting for anyone to do what i

did, that was just the way i felt. Anyway the doctors at MD did state

that 600mg they felt was probably at the end of the day is what was going to

work. Why are u off of it again (memory lapse, blame the Gleevec). So Tim is

correct on starting you at 600mg. But maybe he can restart you on 400mg and

then let your counts, etc stablize and increase to 600mg? I am sure he has

thought about this but wasn't sure if you had done it. Tkae care and I will

then maybe i mightve not had all this other stuff happend with gleevec.
