Guest guest
- I'm sorry, I did miss the part about the consult. I just think your mom's case is not at all clear, and it's good to hear that you feel that she is in good hands. Pittsburgh is a good place. The CT to determine the possibility of a transformation should be a CT/PET, not only a plain CT. PETs can highlight nodal abnormalities sometimes better than a CT. The combined test is now given routinely. My point was, really, just not necessarily to go down the Rituxan mono TX until you're pretty sure you understand what is going on. I think my post was way too long (sorry) so some of the details were difficult to pull out. > She really only has high lymphocytes, and they appear stable. I'm wondering if a virus can make them jump independent of CLL. > On the other hand, I think it would be important to get into the hands of a > top hematologist for at least a consult, even to review her original > diagnosis. She may have developed another lymphoma. She lives in Pittsburgh and she is lucky enough to see Dr. Stanley Marks, director of clinical services and chief medical officer for UPMC Cancer Centers/University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute; chief of the division of hematology/oncology at UPMC Shadyside; and clinical professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine.http://www.upmccancercenters.com/about/bio-marks.htmlDr Marks ordered a full abdominal CT to see if a transformation had occured and it was clean.
