Using x-ray crystallography, the scientists produced detailed molecular images that reveal how VX-680, a drug developed by Vertex Pharmaceuticals and Merck, deftly sidesteps a deadly mutation that blunts the effectiveness of Gleevec and a second generation drug called dasatinib. Research published in the January 15, 2006, issue of Cancer Research. Kuriyan, Ph.D., HHMI investigator University of California, Berkeley L.
