Guest guest
Well ladies,, you may appreciate this. After my labwork came back bad from the Dr's(at the time of my CML diagnosis), I was told to go in and have a bone marrow biopsy first, then see/meet the Oncologist. The morning of the biospy, I started my period! Oh joy! and I was sick, sick, sick, with a fever. I had the biopsy, waited a couple of hours, and then met the Onc. After reviewing my labs, and such, he decided to hospitalise me and I stayed for 3 days.. having a transfusion of packed red cells, and stabilizing me. My back was killing me, and it was a combo of having the biospy and the period. The hospital was giving me IV fluids and was making me pee in the toilet " hat " .. so they can measure what's going in and going out. A new nurse came in on her shift, and went to record the contents of the hat. She freaked out! She starts screaming.. " Oh My " G " !! She's bleedinggggggg!!!!! " .. she ran out of the room and brought back another nurse.. I was laughing.. and they were perplexed... I said,, " Helloooooo... I am on my period and I would empty my own hat but you won't let me.. soooooooo,,, although gross, it is what it is.. I even have my pads sitting next to the potty, but I guess she didn't see them and she ran out of the room so fast I couldn't say anything! You should have seen the look on their faces...! :-) lol A moment I will never forget! Lynn (Snickersunny)
Guest guest
> Thank you for sharing that. Hahahaha. It must have freaked them out, Lynn! > You have a good sense of humor, but I'm sure at the time you weren't having fun > at all, were you? I hate how they check the 'pee hat' too. I feel indignant > when I have to show bodily excretions to nurses, haha. Thanks for the story - > Lynne A. Oh lord yes. I had been going to take a glycos test to see if I was Diabetic, trying to find out why I was sick, anyway 12 hours no food. I had a bite of pizza in my 12 hours and they had me fast that much longer. It all came down to between fasting, only being on a dextros drip for three days with no pyhical activity, and cemo drugs that my first bowl movement into that lovery " pee hat " was RIPE! I was so emparrassed... the smell had my family makeing excuses to leave my room and of course the staff took their sweet time comeing to empty it. It was a terrable week but at the same time so much happened that just makes me laugh so hard. I'll share my blowning- up lukopyhrsis(spelling) machine story someday. *HUGS* Emy G
