Guest guest
Hi Holly and everyone, My name is and I am in my second week of recovery since my spinal cord stimulator. I had a real tough time after the surgery. They sent me home that afternoon. The surgeon had to cut two thoracic vertebrates to implant this devise. The also put in a pretty large battery pack into my right buttock area. This is the most painful. I am not that big of a person and there is no room for this battery. I cannot sit on or near it without a lot of pain. The incision does not really want to close as there is no room for this battery. Does your body ever get used to it being inside of you? I feel like a have something huge stuck in my pants pocket that I cannot get out!! When does the surgery pain go away? I can tell that this stimulator is going to help my leg pain which I am so thankful for. They did not place the leads high enough to stimulate my back which is frustrating but I will take what I get. I am blessed to have my leg pain relief. Thanks, -- recovery from surgery Hi All, I am doing great with the stimulator I love my medtronic stimulator it has been helping me so much. Guest guest
--- Hi , I understand the pain from the buttock I have the same problem, however I can tell you that over time the pain won't be as tense there for you. I am unable to lay on that side because its there however I feel that its well worth it. You most likely have some inflamation there what with swelling that is normal too. I have used ice packs on it and that helps. I dont have the stimulator on when I do it. I would advise you to call your doctor if your still having pain. How long were you in the hospital? I was in for four days though they had to use a drug to wake me up cause I wasnt coming out of it. I think that all doctors should keep you in longer than a day cause its back surgery and hurts. My incision was big, that is interesting that they cut through your verterbra, I am skinny also and my neurosurgeon didnt do that. I am sorry that your in so much pain. Resting is the best thing to do I was down for a month with this last one, though I still did walk and do some things. Please let me know if there is anything that the group or I can do for you. This was the fith cut into it and it was well worth it. That may sound crazy but living like I have in the past isn't the way I would want to live. No one should live that way either. I hope that all of you feel that you can come and chat and aske for help from Mike or I if you have questions we can direct you to the information that is needed about the stimulators. Remember that you can always call your person that programs you about questions they are the next best source besides your doctor. I am sorry that I havent been on I have had testing for csf headache that was related to a revision of the paddle that I had done in dec.2002. Just went back to my doctor and found out that neuclear medicnce had done the testing wrong so I have to go back in and get it done. Than have a regular Cat Scan of my head for my surgeon. I am thankful for my surgoen that is helping me with it. Just so you know he didnt do that surgery it was my pain doctor. That I no longer have for pain management due to my insurance not beening happy with him. I am so thankful for all of you writting in it helps me to hear how all of you are doing. Well I will check in to see how everyone is doing. Keep smiling and staying postive it heals your mind and body. hugs to all take care Holly group moderator In Stimulator , " jennifer brosnan " <smokenjokoa@a...> wrote: > Hi Holly and everyone, > My name is and I am in my second week of recovery since my spinal > cord stimulator.
