Just one comment – for young children it is being

recommended (by some pediatricians) that two flu shots be given 1 month apart. Apparently this is more effective then a

single shot. The obvious question

is this helpful, or even appropriate, for us with cll or sll

? If anyone would like to

comment, or check this out I would be interested in hearing.

Mike - as promised, I looked into this - But as always, you can't get the

same answer twice - One of my oncologists, a sort of severe guy with not much

bedside manner, says that not only is a second shot useless, but he's not even

sure how much good the first shot would do us

Then I checked elsewhere, with a pulmonary specialist. The answer there was

" yes, a second shot would act as a booster " .

Go figure.....

I, for one, intend to get a second shot in December, about two months after I

got the first.

The other thing I have been trying to get inputs on is what one can do

preventively to improve one's chances. I got a " no " on gammaglobulin, a " no " on

acyclovir. I also got a " let me know if you've been exposed, and I'll prescribe

an

anti-viral for you " . Seems like closing the barn door after the horse got

out.....

I have read a lot about RIMANTADINE. Has anyone thoughts about preventive

medications?

Good Health!
