Guest guest
Passing this on from INF2FParents: Hi all! Was your child one of the kids in 2003 who received a support services waiver and Medicaid card, only to have it later revoked because the state did not have enough money to fund all the spots? If so, and if you have NOT yet received a letter telling you that your child is targeted again, I have great news for you! Monday evening Nanette Whightsel from the Arc of Indiana spoke to our local parent support group and shared the following information. In addition to the waiver spots already released in the past couple of months, FSSA has also committed to funding all of those spots that were granted in 2003 and revoked. All of those families were supposed to get a letter advising them that they have been targeted, but at our meeting of about 40 parents, we found at least three families who did not receive the letter, and we are certain that there are others around the state who are not aware of this development. I heard from Nanette today, and the Arc of Indiana has committed to helping families in this situation to navigate through the red tape and get this process underway. If this scenario applies to your child, please contact Nanette Whightsel at Arc of Indiana with your name, address, phone, name of your child, date of birth of your child, and any other information you are comfortable sharing with Nanette. She will hand carry that information to the state office in charge of granting waivers and go to bat for families to get the process moving. Nanette will not be in the office the remainder of this week, but she will be back in on Monday. This gives you a day or so to pull together your original paperwork and documents to prove that you are in this group that should have been targeted. Those documents will be very helpful in getting the process moving, but call even if you cannot locate them. Here is Nanette’s contact info: Nanette Whightsel Director of Family Education and Community Resources Arc of Indiana 317-977-2383 1-800-382-9100 317-977-2385 (fax) nwhightselarcind (DOT) org www.arcind.org Please pass this info along to your other networks so we can find all of the families that may need this information! Thank you Nanette and the Arc of Indiana for making this commitment to help families get these critical services.
