Hi All,

I haven't posted in a while; just needed to take a break.

However, I have faithfully read all of your posts so here is a review

of various topics.

1. First of all, welcome to new members Barbara, Pam, Simone

and anyone else I forgot. You will find lots of information and good

people here.

2. , good luck on your upcoming surgery on August 5. I

will be thinking of you and praying for you. Loved the pictures of

your family. What a good looking group! You look so pretty and so

straight! Don't you just hate it when you are in a lot of pain and

people keep telling you how good you look? If they only knew.

3. Ann, sure sounds like you are recovering nicely from your

surgery. How many weeks has it been? Good wishes for your continued

speedy recovery.

4. Loriann, I hope I haven't confused you with someone else,

but I think you mentioned having nerve pain in your leg and that is

what is most bothersome to you right now. My legs are killing me. I

have no pain in my back but one leg has nerve pain and the other is

sore because I need that hip replacement. I will be e-mailing you

off list to ask some questions on this.

5. , good for you in standing up for your rights as far

as getting good medical care. I agree that if a phone call doesn't

get results, write a letter but make sure you set a business like

tone. I've done it and believe me, I get results.

I think that about covers it for now. I'll try not to get so

far behind. Best wishes to everyone who is recovering from surgery

or will be having surgery soon.

Hi Barbara,

I don't know if you have me confused with anyone or not, so I'll just

go ahead and describe my nerve pain.

I haven't had revision surgery yet, but have a bunch of random pains

which are sort of hard to describe, and several diagnoses, so I'm not

sure what is causing them. What I refer to as nerve pains are a

zinging sort of electrical kind of a pain that shoots down the back

of my leg (not the side with the hip replacement) to my foot. Also

a burning in the back of my thighs when I'm sitting for too long.

Part of the back of my thigh and leg has little or no sensation to

hot and cold, and to pinprick, and I have other numb or tingly leg

and foot parts. It's mostly annoying, but sometimes the zings of

pains startle me and make me gasp out loud. Please note, some of

these symptoms my OS has said are NOT related to my flatback

syndrome, some are perhaps related to lateral recess stenosis at L5

and my neurologist attributes the rest to syringomyelia, but he

admits that's mostly because he can't attribute them to anything else.

I'm actually not as scared by the leg pain, as I am the pelvic

numbnesss and the ocassional big numb patches in my upper back, side

of my face and ear and neck.

I'm sorry your legs are killing you, and that the injection didn't

last. I emailed you about my hip replacement. Good luck and take

care,

loriann

Hi, Barbara in Missouri,

Thank you for the welcome note. I was wondering how I might search

the messages for MN people, patients who have had surgery in MN and

which surgeon did the work. Any tips!?!
