Hi Laurie, My son Tayler used to bite as well and we found that he stopped

after we atarted biting him back and he felt the pain and then he slowly

stopped doing it anymore and now he doesn't bite anyone or anything anymore,

it took a few months of this but I fopund that it worked along with the no

bite and that is bad.

Aquatic therapy

> HI Everyone,Today was Mics first day at aquatic therapy and he loves the

water,he did not want to be held in the water so we got a baby life jacket

and let him go he swallowed alot of water but boy did he love it. This is

his second summer in aquatic therapy.I recomend this to anyone who hasnt

tried it.We are working on his trunk muscles and could feel the work out it

gave him.His little stomach muscles were really working.Any body know of any

good trunk exercises I have learned that other parents have the best info

and sometimes little tips that our therapists dont.Mic got his first real

spanking today and I really dont believe in spanking,he bit the little boy

with cp and left marks on him, I only turned around to get a diaper and Mic

attacked.I was so mad he hurt this little boy I actually spanked him and

took him out of the room, does anyone have any tips on how to stop the

biting without spanking. He cried hard for a few seconds and it killed me.I

ve tried removing him from the room and he always gets NO BITE I just cant

think of anything else.I thought about rubbing something that tastes really

bad on my arm and let him taste that when he bites and see what happens but

knowing Mic it wouldnt bother him.I dont know if I mentioned Mic stood alone

and tried to take a few steps today, he also discovered walking backwards

holding on.We are doing the Happy dance in our family abig milestone for

us.I love opinions and I know alot of people have them about spanking so

just because Im new here dont be careful with me I can take it.Have a great

night.Laurie

Thanks, Barbara -- very interesting and helpful.

Do you have access to the warm-water aquatics, or is this a regular swimming

pool?

I hope you can find time to go back, as you said, although I know how demanding

and all-consuming those wedding preparations can be. It's so good to reserve

some " sacred " time just for you. (With me, it's needing to walk regularly and

aerobically, just on my own. But I need something more besides, and that is why

I am getting serious now about the aquatics option.)

Best,

expensive since I belong to a class at the local high school. Average price is

around $30 a month and I go twice a week. I think it's better than a health

club because there are only around 8 or 10 of us at one time. Also, the pool is

deeper; 4' at the shallowest end so short people, like me, can get an upper body

workout as well.

just walk and stretch different ways in the water. The water provides

resistance for strengthening as well as holding me up.

when I was 5 weeks post op after my last spine surgery I was in the water.

things I have to do to get ready for my daughter's wedding in two weeks. I

notice that I feel much better when I do go so I'm hoping to start back soon.

Yes, I do swimnastics three mornings a week and it helps a lot. It is what keeps me going. Of course, the medicines I take also help. I hope it helps you. Joan

Has anyone tried aquatic therapy and did it help?
