Guest guest
Hi Tami, I googled ozone and mold and found several companies offering the type of service you describe. Most of the other hits were warnings against using ozone to remediate a mold problem. I’ve included one that says to report any contractors who recommend ozone to the state of Wisconsin. Please be careful. http://dhfs.wisconsin.gov/eh/HlthHaz/fs/moldclean.htm Pam On 9/30/06 3:44 PM, " Tami Klumpyan " <tami@...> wrote: Hi all, We just had two different company's come in and give us price quotes and look at our mold. The good news is that the mold is not toxic mold, but it is quite widespread in our attic area. I've never heard of this, but they do it by putting ozone (O3) throughout the house. It supposed to kill mold, dust mites, bed bugs etc. One company also gives a 100% guaranty with the treatment. The cost on our house (1400 sq. ft. per level, 3 levels with basement and attic) is $1500-1800. Both company's quoted about the same price. This may be something Lori may want to look into. Let me try this and make sure it's all on the up and up, and I'll give you an update when the freeze hits. I will know for sure then. If it would have been toxic mold it would have cost a whole lot more. I'm also thinking about buying an ozone machine for my house ($300) because I have such a big allergy to dust mites. I knew there was a reason to hate dusting. If in fact this is a good cure all, other sufferers with chronic sinus infections etc. may want to try it. We'll be trying it in the next few weeks. Thanks Tami
Guest guest
I haven’t even heard of this type of service in Australia. What would concern me is the chemical used to remove the mould – just how strong would this be and how would it affect the asthma? As Pam said, please be careful, if it’s stated that you must report it to one state, it’s got to be very strong. Guest guest
Hi Tami, Ozone destroys lung tissue, and it isn't recommended that people be in the house at the time it is on. Ozone also oxidizes metal. Elaine
Guest guest
Hi Pam, Thank you for taking the time to do this. I will definately check into this further. I will contact the state and will also ask the mold guy about this. How can he be certified by OSHA etc. using something that's suppose to be bad? I'll get to the bottom of it and let you know how it comes out. Thanks so much Pam, Tami Re: mold cleanup Hi Tami,I googled ozone and mold and found several companies offering the type of service you describe.
