Guest guest
Sue Dengate and family did a 15 country research trip during 2002. http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/information/world.thm Would be interested if anything has changed for the better since then? Am not sure where you are all living? She found USA " a country in denial about food additives - Chemical Capital of the world " . When I read through the asprin/asthma/allergy articles in the Samters library I came to the same conclusion, finding statements like " traditional practitioners do not thinks food additives play a role " .It seems that food related allergies have never been given much attention, although cross sensitivity to NSAID where known since 2000 or even before that (The Aspirin and Asthma article, 2000). With access to the latest info via web and by belonging to Samters we will certainly find some ways to support each other and improve our lives. Guest guest
i'm lucky in that i live nyc and have access to many health food stores as well as whole foods market. Whole foods is amazing! you can even look at their website for lists of foods that are acceptable with different diets (gluten free, for example.) you can also read their company policy regarding preservatives, artifical colors, etc. it is more expensive than " regular " grocery store food, but i really think it is worth the extra money. jennifer (ny) > Sue Dengate and family did a 15 country research trip during 2002. > > http://www.fedupwithfoodadditives.info/information/world.thm > > Would be interested if anything has changed for the better since then? > > Am not sure where you are all living? Guest guest
Trader Joe's is also a great store for any of you that have access to those. There's some in several different states throughout the country, you can go to traderjoes.com for store locations. It's not quite as healthful as Whole Foods but they have many of their own products that are made with organic products and many preservative free products, etc. And on their web site, like Whole Foods, they have a list of the different diets as well, such as gluten free, fat free, no sugar added, kosher. There's one pretty close to where I live, not within walking distance but my husband drives by on his way home from work so he often stops to pick up things. They have a lot of pre-made foods that are made without preservatives. So if you're someone for whom time is a factor in preparing meals (and who isn't) you can get preprepared things that are healthier. Guest guest
P.S. AND Trader Joe's is actually in general NOT more expensive than other stores, at least in my limited viewpoint.
