Guest guest
I can attest to that! I was given Toradol after an operation and almost died! I even had the big red hospital bracelet on that listed that I was allergic to Aspirin & NSAIDs. Someone just wasn't paying attention! Rob Re: drug metabolism/Trudy Trudy-Toradol(ketorolac) is an NSAID. Read about it at webmd.comOne of my main motivations to having ASA desensitization was that Toradol is the ONLY injectable NSAID. All other NSAIDS are oral/topical applications.I am an pharmacist and have stopped nurses from giving me oral meds containing ASA or NSAIDS (or acetaminophen since I am cross sensitive to that as well). With Toradol being on the formulary of most hospitals, I was concerned that someone would not realize I shouldn't have it, even though I wear a Medic Alert bracelet.Hope this helps.Barb V (NJ)
Guest guest
Trudy, I also get hives on my legs and no one seems to know the cause. I found out I was allergic to Toradol after a surgery when I was one big hive in the recovery room. I started wheezing and told them they better get respiratory quickly. The new drug I am on is called Tramadol (Ultram) and the name sounded so close I figured I better check it out. I am not having breathing issues with it but my legs are covered with hives. Arrrggghhh. I need to get back on the Allegra as it works though my insurance won't cover it and my doc ran out of samples. Clarinex in NOT working, nor Zyrtec or Clariten. Trudy. Guest guest
Trudy, your rash sounds very similar to mine. Small flat very itchy and only on my legs. Are you on Prednisone? I think it might be related but am still trying to figure it out. At first my doctors thought it was from antibiotics (it seems to come when my samters symptoms are worse.) they kept switching drugs but the rash kept coming! One time I took only prednisone and no antibiotics but still got the rash either it is the prednisone or a point in this disorder that happens when I have a flare up. It is awful but the doctors just say take an antihistamine. I want to know what is up with it! not just treat it! I take allegra, or benedryl/zyrtec if I need a good nights sleep. I do have long periods of time when I don't have it. (thank goodness!) michelle Re: drug metabolism/Trudy Trudy, I also get hives on my legs and no one seems to know the cause. , these are different than other hives I have gotten also. They are flat and red and very itchy. Okay, the red and very itchy has happened! But they are not raised like usual. Sometimes my legs, ankles, and feet swell when I get them too. The Allegra kept them in check and as soon as I was switched to Clarinex and Claritin they came back. Anyone else having this problem? Trudy. Guest guest
Trudy, I, too, am amazed at how many health care professionals, including doctors & nurses, do NOT know what NSAIDs are. Even after I explain it to them they still look at me funny. Rob My concern with Toradol is they like to use it during most surgeries and for some unknown reason a lot of hospital personnel don't know what a NSAID is!! I have had them come in pre-op, check my bracelet and record, and still go to give me something I am allergic to. Trudy.
Guest guest
I also get hives on my legs. Not as often anymore. My hives are sometimes solid dots or sometimes perfect red rings and normal skin color in the center. I gave up trying to figure it out. I thought for a long time it was from the sun. Tami in wis.
