Guest guest
Rob, thanks for this -- it seems like a very comprehensive site on asthma, and worth drilling into, but, other than mentioning " triad asthma " , they don't seem to talk about it all. It's too bad -- I was in Denver last week and would have dropped in if I had seen this site beforehand. regards, Ken West 416 654 1398 > From: Rob Cumberledge <rob@...> > Organization: The Computer Cafe > Reply-samters > Date: Mon, 21 Jun 2004 16:47:08 -0400 > <samters > > Subject: National Jewish Medical & research Center > > Hi, > > Has anyone ever been to the National Jewish center for treatment of their > asthma? Guest guest
Rob, I'm sorry I don't know anything about this center. I'm also sorry to hear you are going downhill, as you say. I wish there was something I could offer you, but I'm sure you've heard multiple times what works for me and it may or may not work for you. I hope you find something that does. Good luck and keep us posted. Lori
Guest guest
I have been to National Jewish 2 times for my triad asthma. I believe they also do aspirin desen. I didn't have it done there. They don't seem to be that very aware of the triad symtoms of samters . They treat asthma, allergy, nasal symptoms, I did feel they helped somewhat. It was a total approach, However, not a total approach to samters a total approach to asthma, allergy, and so forth. It is a very good hospital. I guess It's worth a try if you are feeling badly, at least I thought it was. Guest guest
Hi, Rob: I was suffered with severe asthma and hypereosinophilic syndrome. My condition's improved a great deal since my first visiting to National Jewish Center in 1999. Now I have no trouble to sleep during the night, and be able to hike 6 to 10 miles with 1,000 " elevation gain. In my opinion, you should go there to check it out if you have asthma symptoms. Also, in early this year, I was told that Abbott Laboratories (the manufacturer) discontinued one of the medications that I've depended on called Zyflo. Another pharmaceutical company called Critical Therapeutics purchased the formula. Does anyone know any latest development of Zyflo? Thanks. Guest guest
Rob: I've only lurked on this group since I joined but I want to post about National Jewish because I'm so enthusiastic about it. They got me from 60 mg. of prednisone a day down to 10, prescribed a long-acting bronchodilator never heard of by my doc in Boston, diagnosed prednisone-induced osteoporosis which had been missed by my own doc, diagnosed sleep apnea, and would have desensitized me to aspirin if I could have stayed in Denver a week longer. Dr. Lanny Rosenwasser knows about aspirin desensitization and has a good rep among other pulmonary docs. You might want to ask for him if you go. I think the quality of care you get there depends a lot on your doc's expertise. The overall environment at Nat'l Jewish was a striking contrast to my Boston HMO and Boston's teaching hospitals. Communication between pts and docs was great, the medical library is open to pts, pts and staff eat together in the same cafeteria, etc. Very humane, anxiety-relieving and egalitarian. I stayed in an apartment about 2 blocks away. You don't have to spend big $ on a hotel. email me if questions and good luck. Larry
