All the infomercial about Carol's sinus irrigator has got me sold. I'll be buying one soon. But in the mean time, what I've been doing recently is working well. Anymore I can't go to sleep at night without a sinus rinse (mositurizes, soothes, cleans, clears). I have been using a giant syringe which is easy to clean and the little individual sinus rinse packets as sold on Carol's site and warmed distilled water. I don't know whether it's a sanitation factor but since I've been using those packets and a different syringe, I get fewer infections. And even when an infection starts, I can sometimes rinse my way through it without antibiotics. The one thing I have found though is once a day rinsing (vs. twice) works best for me. When I get too much water sitting up there, it also seems to invite infection and it makes me all puffy. (Awe the balance of art and science). Two

questions: Again as a point of sanitation-and it seems to work-I douse the rinse syringe in alcohol and then rinse it in very hot water before daily use. Does anyone know if any residuals of the alcohol thrust up into my sinuses could have subsequent health effects? Also I think this has been a prior topic but does anybody treating an infection use an antibiotic in the saline solution versus oral dosing. If yes, how well does it work? Liz Condouris <condour@...> wrote: Ok so I bought the grossan irrigator kit... it's coming next week. In the meantime I'm using one of those bottles that squeezes the water out. Are you guys mostly using isotonic solution, or are you trying various levels of salt? I've been using hypertonic, at the

ratio of 1/2 teaspoon salt to one cup. So far it works pretty well, judging by the crap that's coming out. -- Condouriscell 646-234-6669land 212-459-2398Work: http://amberdigital.comPlay: http://wackyneighbor.com __________________________________________________

Liz: I don't think the tiny amount of alcohol is any big deal and yes I have used gentamicin in the irrigation water a long time ago and also nebulized antibiotics. I still prefer the oral route but some people swear by the nebulized route at least. I think with antibiotics in the irrigation you don't get to all the infected mucosa all over and can have 'pockets' of infection that don't get hit by the irrigation. I have used a small amount of betadine in the irrigation water before. I am still not sure how I feel about that.Hope this helps. Carol

Carol, Thanks very much for answering here. I appreciate the feedback. I have been given the betadine rinse but didn't actually use it--looked a little scary to me. Anyway good to have the feedback and look forward to using the fancy irrigation system all seem to say is fab. Liz: You will love it. After along series of using other things over the years I found the Grossan via the internet about 4 years ago. I fell in love with it so to speak...so much so that I sell it now along with other products as I BELIEVE in sinus irrigation. Carol

Hi Carol, Thanks for the feedback. I think rinsing has been extremely helpful to me too.Carol <shedokdo@...> wrote: Liz: You will love it.
