Hello!

My name is Michele and I joined this list yesterday. I have 3 children; Jorie

(4) nna (almost 3), and (7 months). My first 2 chidren were

vaccinated, but after doing much reading and research we decided we would not be

vaccinating or any children we may have after that.

Autism when they were babies. I of course have no conclusive proof of this.

It's just a gut feeling I have. Also, I have objections to the use of

aborted fetal tissue in some of the vaccines. I am very new to this as I

just made this decision a few days ago, so I have a lot to learn. I haven't

written my letter to the school and doctor yet, and could really use all the

wisdom and advice you want to share with me.

good for you to look into possible reasons for your boys problems--but

somehow, looking at other options make sit tougher in some ways (knowledge

isn't always the easy answer, is it?) anyway, i agree, you must be a strong

woman to handle 4 challenging boys--twins are tough on a good day!!!! i too

will need to write a religious exemption for my older boy this year, and am

unsure as to what i am going to do yet. i may try to write it myself or i

may hire someone to help me word it correctly. i believe, depending on your

states enrollment forms, that there is an area on the enrollment form where

you can just check off that you are claiming a religious exemption and just

attach the exemption to it--generally, goes a lot smoother than when you try

to " change " your status at a later time. here are a couple of links that i

Welcome Karla. Have you read the July/Aug issue of Mothering magazine? There

are a bunch of articles on autism, mostly on treatment options. Good luck on

your search for knowledge. You must be a very strong woman raising four boys

with special needs. One baby is challenging enough!

I just joined this list yesterday. I am a stay at home mom to a 14 month

old and pg with my second due in March. For you to get an idea of " where I

stand, " we are still breastfeeding, with no signs of stopping, co-sleeping,

non-spanking, cloth diapering, and at this point selectively vaccinating

moving toward non-vaccination.

To start with, I've had a growing disillusionment with the medical

establishment starting about 4 years ago. When my daughter was born, I

figured I'd get her all the " standard " immunizations. I had no idea about

the risks of immunizations because I'd never known anyone who'd had any

troubles directly related to them. At 9 months, my doctor discussed with

me two " new " vaccinations my daughter would get at 12 months: chicken pox

and prevnar. He told me about them. I expressed some reservations about

them and he told me to research them. That opened a can of worms. I found

out so much information in my research, which only cemented my concerns and

nn did not get either, just the iPolio. At the 12 month appointment,

I told the pediatrician my decision. He wasn't pleased. He expressed that

he'd prefer my daughter get the prevnar (which I'm very against) instead of

the iPolio, which he felt was pretty redundant at this time in the

US. Hmmm.... He told me with a look on his face like " oh no " to look up

the MMR since that's what she would get at 15 months.

I've done much more research and am on the verge of deciding for no

vaccinations. I am thinking that my next child is likely not to have

any. I've joined this list to learn more about immunizations.

I've read several posts so far, and wanted to put a few thoughts

in. First, someone suggested _How to Raise a Healthy Child in Spite of

Your Doctor_ by Dr. Mendelsohn. I've read this book and found it good, but

also disagreed with much in it. Be aware that it was written in 1984, and

many things have changed in the medical field since it was written. Also,

in all my researching, I've found that there are lots of studies on most

everything. Many contradict each other. It gets very difficult to discern

which is more accurate and representative.

As for being " forced " by school authorities for immunizations, I thought

there were laws and wavers that allowed children to not be immunized at the

discression of their parents. And there are some pediatricians that will

give M, M, and R separately, but it can be difficult to find them.

Finally, for person asking about vitamins, my daughter is taking Enfamil

" Tri-Vi Sol " liquid vitamin since she has low iron and it is causing her

some troubles. There are different combinations so you can give your child

the proper vitamin combination for their needs. It is approved for

children at least as young as 1.

It is important to read the vaccine inserts for each vaccine you give BEFORE

your child gets them.You need the insrt to the specific brand your doctor

carries(or the brand you asked for).If you decide to vaccinate then you need

Do you take your son to the Pedi. for any particular reason or just Well baby

visits? My son went to a Pedi for his 2 week check and we've never been back

since. I took Trenton to a midwife for well baby visits, not because they're

really needed, but it made me feel more comfortable actually seeing someone,

and getting all the weigh-ins and what nots. His last visit there was at

about 15 months, I trust myself more and know that he is doing just fine just

by the way he acts, I don't need anyone else to tell me how he is doing

anymore. We go to a Chiropractor, and we also have a wonderful Homeopath who

keeps us in tip top shape.

Sherman Oaks, CA. I was referred to this group from AP and WOH Moms

Group, as a result of my questions about vaccinations. My husband and I

have struggled with whether or not to vaccinate Hunter since before he was

born. We tried to research the topic a little, but became overwhelmed. We

ended up deciding to vaccinate 2 shots every two months, so Hunter has had 4

shots all together (Polio, DTaP, Hib/Hep B & Pneumococcal).

Now that I started getting more information and finding

support from my AP group, I'm leaning towards not vaccinating anymore or at

least minimizing the shots to only those diseases which really pose a

serious risk.

I'm pretty freaked out about my son's pediatrician and the fact that she

told us that none of the shots he was getting have the thermosal when my AP

group told me that the DTaP definitely still has it. So, I was trusting her

and I feel like an idiot and I'm nervous about what I've already put into my

son's body which may cause problems for him.

I need assistance in making future decisions, since I can't trust the Dr.,

and I'm hoping this group will

help.

You have found the right place. This group is wonderful at providing tons of

answers, not just about why not to vaccinate, but also where to turn for

help when your child gets sick.

My second son got only one vax and then I found this email list (the week he

was scheduled for more shots) and decided that he wouldn't get anymore. I

just wish I'd had know all that when my first son was born. Pediatricians

I've dealt with up to now have proved being totally hopeless and I'm going

to switch to a homeopath.

Hi Adrienne,

I'm Sue, living in the UK, mum to Robyn who is four years old,

unvaccinated and still breastfeeding. I am an

aromatherapist/reflexologist and voluntary breastfeeding counsellor

and I have as little to do with doctors as I possibly can! We use

homoeopathy, herbal medicine and other natural remedies for our

health, although I am pleased to say that at the ripe old age of

four, Robyn has *never* received *any* medication (allopathic). Not

an antibiotic, not a painkiller, nothing. And that's the way I hope

it will stay.

We're fortunate in the UK that the government - at present - allows

us the " freedom " to choose on the vaccination issue, but I don't see

that being the case for very much longer. More and more pressure is

being put on parents to " conform " and " do their social duty " by

vaccinating. Especially as vaccination rates are dropping in this

country, particularly with MMR. The doctors are losing out

financially! They are now trialling chickenpox vaccine in this

country with the dire warnings that this is a disease with deadly

consequences. It kills more people than mumps, measles, Hib, and

heaven knows what put together. About 24 people a year, I think they

said. Hmmm. Very convincing. So we must vaccinate...!! And at

what cost to our children?

I am an older first time mum and both my dh and I had *all* the

childhood illnesses. None of them hurt either of us. We have

natural immunity to them for the rest of our lives. Not some

precarious and questionable immunity " conferred " by a drug. I cannot

understand the current-day medical profession's hysteria with

measles, mumps, rubella and now chickenpox. They've gone crazy - or

the drug companies have some very good subliminal marketing going on

out there! I am personally convinced that these childhood ailments

(I don't even like calling them diseases) protect against other

nastier chronic illnesses in later life and there is no way my

daughter is going to get cancer or asthma rather than measles! I

*am* asthmatic - but I was artificially fed and had the early

vaccinations of diphtheria and whooping cough and polio. And I

*still* got whooping cough! Dh is asthmatic - he was breastfed, but

was vaccinated against the same illnesses. So I'm going to keep my

little one asthma-free to the best of my ability.

Good luck with making the decision which will affect your child's

life - it *is* that critical. I think in the US you will get more

pressure put on you and I don't envy you. But do your homework, and

remember that if you choose *not* to vaccinate any further now, you

can always change your mind at a later date. Don't waste energy

regretting or worrying about what you *have* had - turn your

attention to finding out as much as you can for the future. Damage

limitation, I think it is called! )

Can I personally suggest you read the following from the archives to

get you started on the research? Messages 36191, 36193, 36206, 36263

and 38840. These give a very all-round picture of exactly what

vaccination *can* do. The last one that Sheri only posted a few days

ago is totally brilliant. Eighteen months old, but I wish every

expectant parent would be forced to read it!

Good luck - this list is very supportive, and I must make an effort

to " drop in " more often.

Hello all,

Just a short intro. My name is Emmy and I came from the IVY group. I have 2

children, 1 is vaccinated except boosters and one never vaccinated. My

daughter had what " they " called a mild reaction swelling at the leg and a lot

of crying for a couple of days. My best friend kept telling me about vaccines

but my Mom being a nurse and my freind being a little extreme I didn't look

heavily into it until she was 1. I know all the dangers and am using

homeopathy now thanks to the information I learned from Sheri and Phyllis on

Ivy. I live in Florida and am a board member of a vaccine awareness group

here in Fort Lauderdale. I pass many of the articles here on to my group. I

have spoken with Sheri and am so thankful for her. She is someone we need and

can't do without. She puts her life into informing and helping people learn

the truth about vaccines and the medical Mafia as I have heard it
