Guest guest
Or more concisely guys if you had a moment can you tell me how it all started, how you discovered the thyroid was the problem? I’ve had hypoglycaemic episodes, feeling exhausted, neck pain, mild depression for over 2 years now. More recently (past year) I’ve woken in the night trembling, inner vibration and with palpitations or racing heart, I began to feel cold all the time. In November (4 months ago) I began to have breathing difficulties (not enough air despite breathing in as usual), surges of adrenaline, palpitations and then one day I collapsed when out shopping with the kids. The saga since then has been unreal. I’ve been in A & E 9 times having passed out momentarily or following severe trembling after a burst of tachycardia. I’ve been told I had fluid on the heart (I didn’t), it was a bad virus (it wasn’t) , given laxatives for IBS (without any tests to demonstrate IBS), given 3 courses of antibiotics for a UTI I had no symptoms for, been given antidepressants, had my gallbladder removed at Christmas (even though the pain was in my mid to lower back i.e not typical for gallbladder). I lost 5 stones in 8 weeks, no appetite, couldn’t get from one room to another without needing to lie down to recover. I’ve followed the adrenal diet and feel somewhat stronger (still can’t go out the house and walk anywhere), my weight has stabilised but the cold, shaking, exhaustion, weeping, one eyelid opening more slowly than the other and now cold virus after cold virus are huge issues (I have one permanently swollen tonsil and have had from the start). I know you guys aren’t here to diagnose but I wondered if these symptoms rang any bells at all with anyone? After tons of internet research and scaring myself silly the adrenal/thyroid connection comes up again and again. I have an appointment (at long last) with general medicine 4th March and I’m so scared they’ll say ‘oh, depression, bye bye’. So far I’ve had ECG, Echo, 24 hour Holter, blood gasses, liver enzymes, kidney function, chest x-ray, abdominal scan and blood tests for bacterial infection, thyroid hormone, mineral imbalance. Everything keeps coming back within normal ranges. I’m at my wits end tbh and desperately want to make the most of this appointment.
