Thats really good coverage Sheila.

I thought the web site was good but this puts the icing on the cake. Well done

for all that stuff. Really " in your face "

Still waiting endo visit on 23rd April...Apparently seeing the Prof at

Addenbrookes. According to his secretary he takes on all cases like mine. Hoping

he's worth the wait... Can't come soon enough. Been off all meds for ages now.

Decided to see how far back I'd slip without anything. Memory's back to non

existant. Exhausted. Hair going again. Swollen tongue. Temp around 35.9. List

goes on. Tsh risen from 0.17 (when I was on meds) to 2.67 a couple of weeks ago.

Still within range. ( 0.5 - 3.5)(I think!)

Did anyone see the governments pharmacist chemist in the Mail today. Struck off

for his corrupt ways. Wonder if he passed comment on anything to do with T3?

Hi Kim, I am pleased you like our new Home Page. Janie on the

Stop the Thyroid Madness has put the questions on her web site and this

morning, I received another request from Tracey of the Thyroid

Association of New Zealand Inc. as follows:

I am also asking the owners of every thyroid web site to add the slogan FREE T3 onto the Home

Page so the message gets around the world and doctors might, at last, start

asking for answers.

Hi

Sheila

Just

been reading your wonderful questions & links!

Excellent!

Can

I put them on our website? I think they are supremely important for everyone -

I can't help wondering how long it will be before we here in New Zealand

experience similar stupidity.

Kim, I would not hold my breath with the endocrinologist at

Addenbrooks in Cambridge. I have not yet heard of anybody who has been

delighted with his knowledge. Sadly, they say otherwise. They would diagnose

outside of the mainstream guideline and believe thyroid function blood tests

are the be all and end all. They will not recommend any T3 (either synthetic or

natural hormone containing products), they will not recognise adrenal fatigue

so refuse to treat it, only recognising 's disease or Cushing's syndrome.

However, it will be interesting to see what he makes of you now that you have

been off all medication for so long.

I would write him a list of all your symptoms and signs (check

against those in our web site under 'Hypothyroidism'), list members of your

family who have a thyroid or autoimmune disease. List your basal temperature taken

before you get out of bed in a morning for a few days. Ask for the full thyroid

function test including FREE T3 and a test to see if you have thyroid

antibodies. Request also tests to see if any of the following are low, because

if they are, your own thyroid hormone will not be getting properly utilized by

the cells. These are ferritin, vitamin B12, vitamin D3, magnesium, folate, copper

and zinc. If there is a possibility of low adrenal reserve, ask if he

recognises low adrenal reserve if you are not suffering 's Disease or

Cushing's Syndrome. If he says no, ask him to produce evidence that it does not

exist. Ask for your letter of request to be placed into your medical notes.

Being a professor is important and they should know more, but being a member of

the British Thyroid Association gets in the way, and he bows to his masters.

Let's hope that in your case, he might see things differently.

Go to our FILES section, scroll down until you see 'Essential

Information for NHS patient' and open the file 'First visit to Endocrinologist'

and note the information there.

Luv - Sheila

Sheila, If you decide to do it, perhaps you can have a cartoon of someone

holding a placard with FREE T3 on it, like you see people doing during protests.

Have we got some good cartoonists in our Forum who are willing

to give this a go? Let's have a competition and we will put the best on our web

site giving the name of the cartoonist.
