Guest guest
> Like many people on this forum, I suffer from the swollen belly condition... I have been increasingly worried that there is something not right with my ovaries as midcycle I have excruciating pain which can last for 3 days. Previously it was normal for me to have mild stabbing sensation which went away within 6 hours. I HAVE seen a lady GP but she told me ovary pain is normal. She refused to comment on the fact that I looked 9 months pregnant. Do independent well-women clinics still exist as I really feel that a proper check up is essential? Hello Tracey, Have you seen a gynaecologist yet? I don't think a GP can rule out anything without a physical examination (which, I assume, has not been done ?) - and to say ovarian pain is normal, is plain nonsense. Where on earth do such doctors train ??? Cysts in the abdomen of substantial size are not exactly common, but they do happen quite a lot. Particularly since you have abdominal pain, you should have this checked out. A friend of mine had two cysts removed, each the size of a big grapefruit... and she is a slip of a girl - so her tummy really protruded. Get a referral to a gynaecologist, Tracey, and have yourself checked out. Better safe than sorry. Private insurances like BUPA etc do offer "well woman" check ups, I think - but at a price ..... and some years back, when I had one, it did not include an internal gyny check .... - but more importantly - why should you have to pay? Best wishes,
Guest guest
Tracey, write to your GP, set out all your symptoms and ask for a referral to a specialist and tell her to put your letter of request for a referral into your medical notes. Let us know what happens. Ovary pain is NOT normal. Luv - Sheila This is incredible http://www.dailymail.co.uk/health/article-1252277/I-dropped-FOUR-stone-ONE-day-I-extra-weight-actually-enormous-cyst.html She is very lucky that she did eventually get taken seriously and the cause of her problems was discovered in time. Like many people on this forum, I suffer from the swollen belly condition. People even offer me their seats on the bus, which is a bit embarrassing.
