Guest guest
Very cool - thanks for sharing. My sick dog and Lugols yesterday. This is interesting! My 2 yr old (hyperactive!) black lab was not well Sat eve and vomitted. In the morning she was disttressed, listless and off her food. Stomach was churning. Obviously not well at all. Since it was Sunday I decided to take bull ny horns and give her a small dose of Lugols with water. Within 1/2 an hour she was right as rain and back to bringing me her ball - all day!Adrienne.
Guest guest
This comes under the heading of the 19th century doctor's motto, if in doubt, give iodine. Guest guest
One of my dogs suffers from waxy ear problems (fungus / mites?) and is vaccine-triggered epileptic. I suspect the ears and seizures are connected. No drops or treatment have really helped the ears and conventional veterinary support made his epilepsy worse. He is now off all drugs and on a holistic regime which helped quite a lot. A frantic itching/scratching cycle happened again the other night and it occurred to me (doh) to try lugol's in his ear. He immediately calmed down and so far (fingers crossed) no repeat. Cheers, Deborah in the UK
Guest guest
Good to hear that your dog is doing better since put on iodine. I have expanded the use of iodine with some of my dogs and the changes are great. Compared to antibiotics and other " special " drugs or medications, iodine seems to do the same and brings out the best in the dog. Not often that an 8 year old dog starts to play like a puppy again and grow back hair that has been gone for years. My guess that dogs (like humans) have a real shortage in iodine in their diets. The only problem is knowing how much to give them. For that matter, exactly how much a person should take since it depends on a persons diet and how their body uses the iodine it gets. Iodine and the thyroid gland do so much for the body. It not only makes things work right in the body but it also is involved with killing the bad things in the blood. The more I read, the more research I want to do.

Guest guest
It would be alright to put Lugol's in the dog's water bowl, right? How many mg of iodine do you think would be good for a 70-80 pound Labrodor? Thanks, Sherry > > > > > > > > I gave 2 drops in 20mls water in syringe. Guest guest
I put it in my cats' food and also the dog and cats water on a regular basis. Mine love it and drink more water as a result. But if the animal is sick yeah you'd have to syringe it in in some fashion. But just a little amount of water would be fine. They'll drink more afterwards no doubt. -- At 09:56 AM 4/26/2010, you wrote: >I gave 2 drops in 20mls water in syringe. Didnt like it much! >It does not say what the %age is on bottle.
