Guest guest
Are you talking about the "Iodine Loading Test"? There isn't a salt loading test. If you are doing the loading test with bromide level testing then you do the following: 1. Waking up / urinate and empty bladder. 2. Take 50 mg tablet from kit. 3. Within 1/2 hour after taking the Iodoral tablet take 1/2 tsp of unrefined salt. 4. Collect urine for next 24 hours including the first morning urine of the next day. 5. Drink lots of fluid throughout the day. Iodine knocks bromide off the receptors but does not bind to it. The chloride in the salt binds to the bromide and carries it out of the blood stream to the kidney. iodine and salt loading Hello,Someone posted that one needs to take their iodine before starting the salt loading test. There is no mention of this order on the website Natural thyroid Choices. Is this a preferred method or someone's personal protocol?I'm also curious why the iodine doesn't work for displacing the bromine? Does the iodine knock the bromine free letting the salt flush it from our bodies? Thanks for any answers,Joan

Guest guest
Hi , This is the page on your website for salt loading protocol. http://www.breastcancerchoices.org/drshevin.html I don't see anywhere that says I must first take iodine in order for the salt loading to work, except in the previous page. I get it that one should take two days off from iodine is detox symptoms are intense but I'm unclear if one needs to keep taking iodine to keep the detoxing going. Today, I'm not feeling great from detoxing. Are those lively bromines running amuck in my body and I need to do the salt while stopping the iodine to flush them out? Am I going to feel better or worse with the salt loading protocol? What happens if I don't do salt today? Maybe, the answer is when not suffering from detox symptoms, one should always take their iodine before doing the salt loading. Is that order critical? I often take my salt first with my orange juice smoothie. Here is the excerpt from your other website: " Perform the salt loading protocol when you are experiencing issues with iodine supplementation. 1/2 tsp celtic (or other unrefined) salt in 1/2 cup of warm water Follow the above with a glass of 12 oz filtered water. ** Repeat every 30-45 minutes as needed until urination begins. " It mentions iodine here but it doesn't say, " first, take your iodine. " It implies that one should not take salt until there is a need to do so. Forgive me if it feels like I am criticizing your websites. I love your websites. I wasn't confused until someone posted that we should take our iodine before doing the salt loading protocol. I just want to be sure. Thanks, joan > > You trimmed too much on this e-mail. Guest guest
Hi Joan, The iodine kicks the bromide off the receptors, so it is now floating in your body, and you want to get it out. If your body’s natural elimination pathways are all working great – sweating, urination, liver, bowels, then you might have the toxins move out of your body without any detox symptoms. The symptoms occur when the bromide stays in your body, and makes you feel sick – whatever symptoms you have. The salt loading is to help move the toxins out of your body quickly, thereby relieving the symptoms. Except that your body needs good whole salt for other reasons that have been discussed, some even today with keeping your body alkaline, it doesn’t get the bromide out if it is still attached to your receptors. You do not have to stop the iodine, but if you find you need to salt load for 3-4 days in a row, you might want to take a day or two off to let your body clear out. Maybe you should look at liver support, and make sure you are drinking enough and eliminating often enough. They will all make detox easier. I take salt several times a day, so you can take some first, but taking some an hour or so after the iodine starts to work will help push out more. There is a difference in taking the recommended salt daily – ½ tsp, and salt loading, which is the every 20-45 minutes until you start urinating. If you are talking about just taking the ½ tsp salt in your smoothie, that is fine. But if you are experiencing detox symptoms, then you will want to take more salt to get the toxins out. Guest guest
Thanks everyone for the responses. It didn't answer my original question but that's ok. Addressing detox symptoms is more important. My bowels went into hiding after Christmas, due to an adrenal crash. I've done some coffee enemas, not always successfully, I take dandelion and milk thistle and enzymes especially formulated for the liver. I take them for the kidneys as well. I have a bladder infection, taking D-Mannose for that. I took three days off of iodine, one day on, then one day off. Today, I took some and feel better but I could hardly walk yesterday. This is rather scary. I'm probably chelating mercury and nickel also. I take clay and magnesium baths. I makes sense that the toxins are circulating in my body and I haven't done enough salt to get rid of it. Thanks, Joan > > > > You trimmed too much on this e-mail. Guest guest
Thanks, I'll try it. I'm actually staying away from cranberry juice. Blueberries also work and they aren't anti-thyroid. The D-Mannose is working. It is tough to keep hydrated. After evacuation, I need to hydrate again. I'm trying to drink coconut water for electrolites. How long can this go on? It would be nice to have a goal. It is too bad that there isn't a book for the detoxing with people's different experiences. I think more could be written about it than what I have read. Guest guest
Hello Agnes, 1/2 tsp of Celtic Sea Salt is recommended to be taken daily. Along with using the salt liberally on your food each day. The Salt Loading Protocol is to be followed when you are experiencing bromide detox symptoms, and is only done at most for three days. Read about both of these things in the Guide to Supplementing with Iodine in our Files. Kind regards, Kathleen moderator Re: Iodine and salt loading , I'm confused by the salt loading and the general salt supplementation. Should I be taking 1/2 spoon each day or every other day or is it better to stick with 1/4 spoon each day?
