Hi All,

The list has been very quiet, lately--guess everyone is having lots of summer fun!

Tonight, I let Sara spend the night with her little girlfriend, Hannah.

Hannah has an inground swimming pool at her house that is not fenced in as we all live in the country around here, so I have absolutely put my foot down about her spending time there unless I am there, but after swim lessons and her showing some prudence about knowing not to go into the deep end and showing if she is in the deep end, she knows how to swim to the side, my husband and I decided to let her stay. She was so excited to be doing a sleepover...She so wants to be treated like her brothers who do sleepovers often. It's such a balancing act of protecting, yet letting go when the time is right and I think it will be that way with Sara and I all of our lives....The best to all of you!

Marcia,

That is great about Sara's sleepover! What a big step -- for her and for you! I'm going away this weekend (for "Big 's" west coast memorial) and leaving my kids here, but that is not the same as a fun sleepover.

How was your vacation? Rafting, wasn't it, with another couple or 2? Did you have a great time? I'm not really going away at all this summer, but this last week I had only about half of my students here, so I had my 2 nieces come from California to stay with me. They are 6 and 8 and LOVE the babies. We had a great time! They are with my folks tonight and fly back home tomorrow.

Well, off to do the dishes and get to bed. Have a good week. I hope the list gets "talking" again -- I miss it!

Casey, mom to (DS) and , 20mo.

Hi Casey,

Sounds like it has been fun around your house with your two nieces to help you with the twins.

We enjoyed our river rafting trip a lot. We were actually with five other couples and three guys whose wives weren't with us for one reason or another, so there were 15 of us--it's a fun way to vacation, because as a couple, we have time alone on the raft as we are going down the river and then when we get camp set up and before dinner, it's social time; there's always someone to hike with or swim with and the group is necessary if any rafts would flip or get wrapped on a rock, which didn't happen. We had great meals and the weather was very nice--we missed the kids, but they had a so much fun with their aunt and Grandma (my husband's sister and mom), who entertained them for 11 days.

Enjoy your time back East, although, I know there will be difficult times, as you remember your friend, . I'll be thinking of you!

What do you teach, Casey?

Hi - this list has been kind of slow for the

past several weeks. Not much activity, so I don't

think you are missing much!

However, have you checked to see what

your preferences say - whether you get individual

email's, a daily digest, or web-read only? That may

be the problem.

Glad to hear you're still " lurking " and hope you'll

post-up about how your kids are doing when you get the

chance!

Su -

You will want to subscribe to this list as a digest. Then it will download

once a day. When I figure it out I'll let you know!

Hi, Su -- Glad to meet you, and sorry about the trouble you;ve been

having. I see that you are set on " Individual emails " right now -- is

this what you requested? As others have probably noted already, you

can change this by going to your " Edit My Membership " menu -- should

be upper right, just northeast of where this writing appears on your

monitor (unless you have a different layout). Not the first set of

options in the upper right, but those a ways down from the top.

Clicking on " Edit My Membership " should take you to another page,

where you will see a list of menus. You want the first

menu, " Message Delivery. " You can stay with what you've got, having

all messages emailed to you. Or you can pick a digest of everything

once a day. The other options are to receive nothing except special

announcements I might send out once in a while, and to receive no

email. This is a very individual thing, and you need to pick what is

right for you. You can change it any time you want. I personally go

with no email and read all the mail on site at the web page. Many

other people prefer some other way of doing it.

You asked why we have to do this. I think it is to give everyone a

personal choice rather than imposing one kind of message delivery on

everyone. I'm pretty sure I made such a choice with the other

scoliosis lists I joined.

Please feel free to email me personally if you have further problems

with this. I'll be glad to help in any way possible, but I suspect

you've gotten some answers by now from other knowledgeable people in

the group. Apologies if this is all a repeat, and again, Welcome!

Hi Eliana,

Thanks for the instructions. Have now changed to daily digest as this

will be much better!

Cheers,

When I left for California on Monday, Jan and I agreed to email each

other every day. I told her she could write me a really angry email if

I didn't write her.

Well, I've been writing, and I didn't here from her until tonight when I

got two emails. Here they are.

First one: >>>>>>>>>

lynn one can chose to not have of mail come to their own in box but can

have it set to read at the web page , if one belongs to yahoo groups

you can go to that areas and find yahoo in girls and then go ti edit of

my group and then can choose of the option to read at web only because

this way it does not fill up ones in box and hlps minimize of direct

virus too at least from the web site it is of cleaned so to speak but

yahoo. it is not fault proof but easier to managage of it. I to ahve of

all of my list set to read a web options and this helps me cope the

major inbox of posts in amore organized fashions and can read when able

to and not when not able to and not having to worry of my in box

getting too full. this might be of a good option for some here.
