Guest guest
Is there a website which explains the reference ranges for TSH, T4, T3 TPOAb etc. There are so many sources of information and they all differ! If you look at any American sites, it is totally confusing as they use different ranges. A website which simply explains all the TFT test results and what is classed as 'normal', would be very helpful. I know there is a lot of debate about what is normal range for TSH, but the other T4, T3, Free T4 & Free T3 is all so confusing and needs to be clarified. Having thyroid problems makes you tired and consfused, so we need to understanding test results in the most simplified format!
Guest guest
There is a problem with the UK thyroid function test reference ranges - and this is because each laboratory uses different testing kits so have a specific reference range. Whenever you ask for your test results, always get the reference range too because without them, we can't tell what might, or might not be happening. The reference range for the TSH test is decided by the British Thyroid Association as far as 0.5 to 10.0 is concerned and telling doctors they should not give a diagnosis if the TSH is less than 10, but most laboratories use a TSH reference range around 0.5 to 5.0 - but again, never assume what the reference range is, always get this from the laboratory that did the test. As far as interpreting blood results though, we recommend http://www.labtestsonline.org.uk/ Luv - Sheila Is there a website which explains the reference ranges for TSH, T4, T3 TPOAb etc. There are so many sources of information and they all differ!
