Guest guest
Hi Tamara, Your timing couldn't be better for red pepper soup with cayenne as an ingredient :-)) My homeopath just gave me his advice based on my latest lab test results which show a lot of things way out of normal range. It's a whole long list of things I am to follow and also a new remedy protocol - and I am looking forward to getting started but have to order some new remedies for a 2 week very intensive approach. Well one of the diet recommendations meantime is to use plenty of cayenne pepper in my diet. So I was wondering how else to use cayenne (which I like) other than in curries which is the obvious one. This soup looks pretty good!! I am also trying to invent a savoury hot drink. In South Africa it was popular to use marmite or bovril for a hot drink of the savoury kind, and so I figure, why not something with cayenne in it to " keep me warm " in the winter. I can't just add cayenne to bovril or marmite due to the salt content I can't have, but there must be something else I can put together. I'm hoping to come up with a powdered mix I can take anywhere and just add hot water. Maybe chicken stock (Safeway has a no salt one), kelp, parsley, onion powder and cayenne. Ratios I shall have to work on! If anyone has any other ideas of tasty ingredients for a hot savoury drink, please suggest away? Is there such a thing as carrot powder? Interestingly, another recommendation I have is to get my carbohydrate needs (such as before exercise) from roots and tubers and avoid all grains. Well that fits well with the BTD doesn't it! Sweet potato, beet and carrot for example. But always with olive oil to slow absorption of high glycemic items. (My blood sugar currently runs around 135 and my insulin level is 48 where normal is less than 17 - thank you cushings. How's that for insulin resistance.) I'm hoping the new strategy will give me a new lease on life and a new progress step, all put together. I need one - too many things are way out of kilter. The blood glucose/insulin is nasty for example but is " just a side effect " and not the main issue. Someone said there was a diabetes BTD book or something??? I have not seen one - or is it that the encyclopaedia has what's suggested for diabetics? I plan to order that anyway - but is there something else I need to order at the same time or will the encyclopaedia be enough? (Funds are not thick on the ground but health has to be my top priority.) I am thinking I may benefit from the diabetes advice even though my " diabetes " is a cushing's side effect. Thanks for any suggestions. Namaste, IRene -- Irene de Villiers, B.Sc; AASCA; MCSSA; D.I.Hom. Guest guest
Irene, you might want to try Bernard Jensen's Protein Seasoning instead of the marmite stuff (aarrggh). Dr Bronner makes one too. At the HFS . It's powder. I use it to make gravies and flavor soups. The Bernerd Jensen stuff has soy. I don't know if you can tolerate this.Just a thought. Guest guest
Go to www.half.com and check out the prices. They have the Diabetis book for between $3 and $6.
