Cheers,

Here are some notes on how we might optimize our consults -

which is our main opportunity to positively influence how well

we

are treated and monitored.

o Bring a trusted friend

Into the consult (not to wait in the waiting room)!

This to raise the level of the consult.

Ask that he or she be an active listener or take notes.

o Provide concise information (in writing) for your doctor so he

or she can quickly get up to speed on your clinical

circumstances, questions, and treatment goal.

Treatment goals?

Observation? Management? Curative Intent? Durable remission?

(often based on your clinical circumstances)

the lymphoma:

o Ask that he or she discuss at least ONE clinical trial!

that could be appropriate to your clinical circumstance and

treatment goal.

o For indolent b-cell lymphomas, ask if radioimmunotherapy is

available as a treatment option and when this option might be

most appropriate for you.
