Back Pain

Over the years I have heard many people discuss back pain. Fortunately this was

never a major issue for me. Six days ago I developed back pain like I have

never experienced before. I started out a little achy in the AM but by the end

of the day I was miserable. It hurt to try to roll over in bed and getting out

of bed was a challenge. On Monday I saw my primary care doctor who thought that

I had a muscle injury and back spasms. She gave me a prescription for Vicodin

and Xanyx to take at bedtime. About three weeks ago I had a minor fall on the

steps at the fitness center. I was holding the railing and caught myself. I

got up quickly (more embarrassed than anything else) and went on to swimming.

It is hard for me to believe that this minor fall is causing me so much pain.

I guess my question is how do I determine if the problem is inflammatory? I've

also had tendonitis of my wrist and thumb as well as knee pain. It seems like a

lot of problems to be just a coincidence. I believe that blood work at my last

rheumatologist appointment was normal but I didn't actually see the results.

I'm really uncomfortable. I have trouble getting my shoes and socks on. I

don't really feel like giving it time to see what happens. The last couple of

years I've felt like I've been given my life back. I've been able to be much

more active and regained my mobility. My concern now is that I'm going

backwards. I would appreciate any suggestions. My pain is very low in my back.

I have a bladder stimulator implanted in my lower back. It prevents me from

getting MRI's and therapeutic ultrasound. Thanks for a chance to vent. If

anyone has any suggestions for lower back pain, I'd appreciate hearing them.

Thanks!

Kay
