Guest guest Posted June 17, 2004 Report Posted June 17, 2004 For plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis, my orthopaedist recommends freezing a 20 oz. bottle of water then using it as a roller beneath the foot. (Just lay it on the floor and roll it to and fro with your foot.) A gentle pushing and pulling action will stretch your muscles and the coldness will soothe the pain while you exercise. (He suggests 15-20 minute stretching-sessions with at least 30 minutes rest between each.) Anti-inflammatories such as Ketoprofen or ibuprofen (both OTC) or Relafen (prescription) may be helpful and you may also need to wear straight-last shoes with an orthotic to prevent overpronation. Check out the following website: http://www.drkiper.com/exercises.asp. This site advertises specific products (for which I have no endorsement), but the good, basic explanation of your condition(s) and stretching information contained there are excellent. I hope this helps you. Feel better! Best regards and greetings to everyone at RISG! (NC) Quote
