Guest guest
Hi! Thanks for the info. Did you ever try Bextra? I hear there are lots of lawsuits for Bextra so I'm quite nervous to try it. The Vioxx seemed to be finally kicking in...I'm still on it too. It doesn't give me diarrhea either and it seems to help with pain. I cut back to 25 mg from 37 though for now. I don't know when I'll switch over...have to wait for the insurance coverage at the pharmacy...but I have samples from the first time I was on it with my old doc...so I'll do it soon. Do you ever get mouth or throat sores of any type? I do...they are terrible and caused me to lose 20 lbs this time. I've been sick for 8 mos or so and really want to get well. Gaining weight will help me get well I'm sure of it, but that means LOSING the mouth sores! I am quite nervous trying yet another drug. One episode of diarrhea will set off the mouth sores again for me, and all the joint pain and fatigue within several weeks it hits all at once. It's gotten so bad that now it sometimes occurs within a few days. Thus, I am worried about gastro upset from Bextra or even Mobic...they mentioned that one too and I know I've been on both in th past but no reactions are recorded as to why I stopped them (the doc wrote nothing). Do you usually get joint swelling with your flares? I didn't think I did, until I read my old records and one of my docs had recorded tenderness and effusion of knee and ankle. Only this one doc there actually checked it when I came in with pain and she recorded that on nearly all the times I saw her. Thanks for your info...please write back! Debra! Guest guest
Sorry it took me so long to respond. I don't read RISG everyday. Did I ever try Bextra? No. The Mobic is working fine for me. If it didn't the doctor would try me on Enbrel. Do I ever get mouth or throat sores of any type? No. I had an episode of mouth sores because I ran out of a Vitamin A that I was taking. I haven't had a problem with mouth sores from the arthritis - yet. Do you usually get joint swelling with your flares? No. This time around I haven't had joint swelling. I have in past flares but not so much in this one. This time around I'm getting pretty severe muscle spasms and, of course, joint pain. Some medications cause diahhrea and some can cause constipation. Getting the arthritis and inflammation under control can do a lot to help get digestion normalized. Arthritis and Crohn's disease are in the same inflammation family. You can also consider taking an anti- depressant that tends to be constipating along with your NSAID. The anti-depressant can help deal with the constant pain. Good luck. Keep looking for the medication that works for you.
