Guest guest
Thanks to all the information on this list (thank you, all!) I've been on the O diet for 3 weeks now (not long, I know!) and for the past 2 1/2 weeks I've been about 90% plus in avoiding both Tier 1 and Tier 2 avoids, including MSG, dextrose, etc.... I've also been trying to increase beneficials (still have a way to go to up the veggies and fruits vs. grains but my diet's slowly improving!)... Anyway, things were going well after the initial challenge of balancing a new set of foods... Last night due to social obligations, I ended up having pizza (ham, cheese, the whole shebang...). I had immediate mouth/gum/tongue reactions to what I suspect was MSG in the pizza but I also had a couple hives and today I'm achy and exhausted. Is that typical when you put something back in your diet that shouldn't be there? Could the hives be in response to the food, or something else? (I suspect I'm developing a latex allergy and someone blew up a balloon where we were -- I'd much prefer the hives to be food-related than latex-related as there's a bit more control over food!). in NC
Guest guest
Hi - it is a very typical reaction. Happens all the time. Hopefully you will know better then to put poison in your body for the sake of others. The truth is that you don't have to eat anything you don't want to. The only problem with food is that it is a very powerful DRUG. I know a lot more people who can stay away from cigarettes for years then people who can stay away from starches for months. I mean do you ever see people light up a cigarette here and there 3 months after quitting just because others in the group smoke ? You are on the right track, but be very careful. Don't fool yourself. Understand that AVOIDS = POISON Good luck to you. Guest guest
I've noticed that the more pure I am with the diet, then if I eat an avoid which didn't bother me before, now suddenly does. I think it's the body getting what it finally needs and when it gets an avoid it complains loudly: " oh no, don't start giving me this crap again! I can't take it anymore! " :-) Jerilyn

I know I get what I call " wheat hangovers " the next day if I eat something stupid. I feel like I drank way too much the night before. It was one of the things that told me I was on the right path.
