Calcium interferes with thyroid medication. That's why I take my

calcium/magnesium at night.

Congrats, but I would do a little more reading on my own about

magnesium. You want to take a calcium and magnesium supplement or

you may end up with constipation. The balance of those two is

important for a lot of things. My doctor recommends calcium AM and

magnesium PM, because calcium is a sympathetic stimulator for some

people, so could interfere with sleep if taken at night. No wonder

milk at bedtime wasn't helping me with sleep. Weight bearing

exercise is also important. Your body holds onto more calcium if you

exercise. This can spare the need for calcium to some degree.

what does metabolic typing say about calcium absorption / optimum times to take

it?

cherylhcmba <cherylhcmba@...> wrote:No problem as long as nighttime

Calcium doesn't interfere with your

sleep. I wish I had more info on why some people react differently

to calcium. I saw some info in Metabolic Typing, but it didn't seem

to match with me.

It's like everything else -- there is no one answer. You have slow/fast and

sympathetic/parasympathetic types.

Calc, D & B-12 tend to slow the thyroid.

Sodium, potassium, E & B Complex would stimulate the thyroid.

It's a big puzzle, you have to have all the pieces to get the right picture.

In general -- Slow type needs less Calc/Mg and more Sodium/Potassium

Fast type needs more Calc/Mg and less Na/K

Another reason to take them separately is that calcium needs fat to be

absorbed and magnesium needs absence of fat to be absorbed (fat and

magnesium together forms soap) - kinda the way nature serves them up -

in milk with fat or in green leaves without it:-)

Ps Again many good emails todsay - I'm feeling up to answering much, but

appreciate the ideas sent my way in several emails - thanks.
