Hi Janet, Liz, Ray and Matt

Thank you all for your concern and comments about hands and accidents. I my

case I was trying to be independent and not ask my husband for help. In the

past he thinks I am a baby about such things and can do them myself. Well,

I will now think twice about any tool I pick up. I have a history of hand

problems so you would think I would have known better. In this case I was

also having a migraine headache when I attempted this project. We are

definetely more accident prone than other people as our attention is divided

with the everyday stress of pain.

When I saw my hand doctor on Monday, he agreed with the strong course of

antibiotics of the Augmentin of 10 days. He however said that it was

necessary to take an anti-inflammatory drug in addition. I told him that I

take Enbrel which I had to stop because of the Augmentin. I had stopped my

Mobic a month ago because of the stomach problems it gave me. He said to

take it anyway. So I am cutting in half the Mobic 7.5mg tabs and taking the

half 3 times a day. My whole system is out of balance with these changes.

But I am going to tuff it out for the 10 days.

This doctor said that I should try to move the hand and fingers as the blood

flow is necessary to help the tendons and inflammation. He made the nurse

give me a return appointment for next Monday as a " work in " . You know you

are in trouble when they make room for you and want you back that quick.

The good news is that each day I am getting more and more movement back in

the fingers. They are very swollen in the morning but improve as the day

goes on. So thank you all for your prayers. God is good.

God Bless

Good luck, Priscilla! And let us know what happens. I'm glad your doctor

is following you closely.

Doesn't your husband know that the express purpose of a husband is to do

everything involving tools? They're made for man-sized hands so I rest my

case. Women give birth to the next generation, men do all that stuff

involving tools and garbage bags. LOL! Well, I'm halfway serious. I

certainly hope this convinces your hubby that you're not being a baby. We

need to completely ignore such thinking.

God Bless,

Janet in SF

You must be a southerner, or you wouldn't have left out shovelling the

walkway and driveway. There is also looking under the hood of the car and

saying,

" hmm, I think the fuel injector needs a slight adjustment, but I think it is

safe to drive, " when the female hears " funny noises " coming from the engine, but

what she really wants the is the window washer fluid to be topped up. And

most important of all, the male of the species has to know the female's favorite

dessert so he can order one for himself when she says " I'm not having any

dessert, tonight honey. " And when the dessert arrives, a magic fork appears

over

the dessert that takes most of it away except for a few crumbs. Don't also

forget trying to look interested when " we " have to go the Pottery Barn to pick

out something that will go with her sister's new decor. The female gets the

male to eliminate all the awful stuff by asking what he likes, and then guess

who then gets to lug it out to the car after paying for it because she left her

credit cards in her other purse. sheesh!

I'm happy that your hand is doing better, Priscilla. I think physical

limitations do sometimes lead to injuries when we try to be independent. I know

it has for me. I usually hear " Why didn't you ask for help? " from family

members, also. When I do ask for help, however, I feel like I'm interrupting

them from whatever they are doing. They say they want me to ask for help but at

the same time I feel that they don't really want to be bothered. Either way, it

is an aggravation for them to either get up and help or watch me struggle. Take

care of your hand. I've taken Augmentin before without too much trouble. Be

sure to eat lots of yogurt. I not so sure breaking up the Mobic is easier on

your stomach than just taking one dose. It would seem that your stomach never

gets a rest from it. Take care.
