Hi Kay, are you sure you don't have migraines? Migraine symptoms are not

just headaches but often are the symptoms you describe. Mine start with a

flash of light, but not everyone gets this warning sign. The best cure is a

lie

down in a dark quiet room. Vertigo is sometimes a symptom of inner ear

problems, but as I remember your Doc already checked for this.

I hate sounding like a broken record but I'm still having problems with

headaches, nausea, and vertigo. I've got another doctor's appointment tomorrow.

My regular doctor is on maternity leave so this is with her partner. Last time

I felt pretty rushed during my appointment with him. I wondering if I should

insist on seeing a neurologist or ENT doctor. This problem has been going on

for quite a few weeks now. I have Compazine for nausea but it knocks me out. I

also have Maxalt that I can take. It is a $24 co-pay for just 6 pills so taking

it is pretty expensive. I don't think I was on the right medication of the UTI.

I don't usually have clear symptoms of UTIs because of the neurologic bladder

but sometimes just feel sick from the infections. I don't know if the UTI is

causing the current symptoms or just a coincident. What should I be expecting

from my appointment tomorrow keeping in mind this is the 3rd appointment that

I've had for the headaches and dizziness. I'm not in an HMO so I don't need a

referral to see a specialist. Thanks for the input.

Hi Matt, I referred to my current problem as " headaches " and I should have

said " migraines " . Yes, I do have migraines. They run in my family. I don't

have an " aura " but notice things like pressure along the bridge on my nose prior

to onset. Sometimes I notice the nausea before the headache. I do know I'm

really tired of them. I'm also wondering if they might be related to recently

going off Effexor. I went off slowly, or at least I thought it was slowly,

switching to the 35 mg. pill from the 70 mg. If migraines are related to low

levels of serotonin than perhaps reducing a medication like Effexor (an

antidepressant similar to Prozac) might effect serotonin levels thus causing a

migraine. It's a question that I want to ask the doctor today.

I had never thought about going to a chiropractor. I have never been to one.

My son, who is a trim carpenter sees on regularly and finds it quite helpful.

Thank you for the suggestion.
